Tim Dorsey Takes a Cruise

Just read Tim Dorsey's Atomic Lobster, was pleased to learn it involved a cruise ship out of Tampa.  His writings are almost always about and take place in Florida.  His style has been described as The Three Stooges meet Hunter Thompson.  My favorite line from this one was about jewel sales on the ship, describing Tanzanite as  being such a rare gem that it is found only on cruise ships.

Tim Dorsey used to work for the newspaper in Tampa, is 61 years old and has written many novels about Florida and a serial killer and his drunken stoned sidekick.  It is Florida history plus slapstick comedy and strange methods for killing enemies of society along with social satire.  First novel was called Florida Roadkill.

At first I thought we were talking Tommy's mystery brother.

First time I saw the name I thought it was Tom, not Tim, which is why I looked into him further.  Tommy's bro was named Jimmy.
