NCL Joy Canada & New England 9/6/22

Immigration was a bit chaotic from what we heard. Lots of delays, long lines, and people not listening to instructions. They had to stop everything for a bit due to the congestion, and a few medical alerts were called (unknown if they were related to the crowds or folks standing for too long).

 

Haven helped to skip some of the lines, but not all. After getting off the ship there was even more lines, left side for US passport holders, right side for everyone else.

 

Holy Donuts closed at 2pm. We got there with 10 mins to spare but they had already closed up. Walked to another donut place... Closed as well. Finally had success at Hi-fi donuts.

 

Then walked over to the thirsty pig for a sausage and some beer.

so glad on my cruise next month we are going to the new england states first and then canada last. should make immigration a bit easier

If you want beer in Portland, find Novare Res Bier Cafe.... Tons of amazing stuff on tap, not a far walk from the ship.

I had a whole long post written and it looks like CC deleted it. Essentially, the weather has been great, it's 84 here in Portland and I only needed long sleeves once when it was super windy. 

 

The beer here is great. I've switched to a frozen lemonade wheat beer shandy mix. Headed back into the ship soonish so I can get a covid test. I don't think I have it, but better safe than sorry before I infect others. Seems like a lot of people have picked up the same cold that Marty & I caught. Washy washy...

For those interested in tours from Halifax be aware that See Sights "Tours" of Peggy's Cove are not a tour, they are a shuttle. They pick you up (hopefully they send you the right address for pick up, we got sent to the furthest terminal), they bring you to Peggy's Cove, and then drop you off for 2.5 hours while they drive an hour or so back to Halifax to pick up more people that they'll also drop off for 2.5 hours.

thanks for that warning. i read some things in the review on various sites about that and i was confused. i am going to cancel my booking with them. i want more of like a tour and not a shuttle

Footloose only had one performance. The rest were cancelled due to medical reasons for one of the leads.

Some more photos of the crazy fog that followed us from Maine, and photos coming into/out of Boston. I didn't realize the airport is right there, fun to watch the planes coming and going.

Pleasantly surprised with the food at Food Republic. It's open on sea days for lunch and everything was tasty.
