We are there in April and I thought it was the new pier.

The website just has a generic blurb on the port city. Amber Cove is Carnival's port, most other lines sometimes will use it, but have moved to the new port. They have been using both Amber Cover and Taino Bay. We docked in Taino Bay in April. But that is the dock where the Escape ran aground in March. And talking with the Captain, it is a very narrow entrance which is extremely hard to navigate if there are gusty winds (all of the big cruise ships are just big sails). Even when we left, the captain was using full bow thrusters to keep us in the channel.
2boyzmom Posted September 19, 2022 #10 Share Posted September 19, 2022 The day we arrive in Puerto Plata there are 4 or 5 ships in port and it looks like Carnival has all the excursions for Amber Cove so my guess is we are headed to Taino Bay.... We really liked Taino Bay back in November. There’s lots of good info and pics in the ports forum.
