Most countries don't even do testing anymore. People don't need to be quarantined anymore at home, why cruise ship should be different?

Dtr works in home heath, so she tests Sis has a new granddaughter, so she tests I'm carrying tests on my cruises but IDK if I'd tell anyone if I pop positive. I can just shelter in place & on the balcony & mask while getting off. I pick my room bc I like that balcony

Home tests don't work properly, we learned it last year on our family, so we don't even bother to do them. As you said if we get sick we just put on a mask but definitely not reporting anything.

Not to get off into the weeds but the saliva test is supposed to be as accurate as the PCR. We're operating on the thought that they are. Still not reporting. Will mask up

Friends were on NCL and tested positive a few days before the end of the cruise. They had to wait until everyone else disembarked and then the people in white suits showed up to escort them off the ship and left them at the taxi line. On 10/18/2022 at 10:12 AM, JF - retired RRT said: That sounds kind of pointless. It appears that the disembarkation process followed by NCL is per the current CDC guidelines for cruise ships. Seems odd they were dropped at a taxi stand because California has quarantine guidelines. Though at this point I'm not sure what should have happened after they were off the ship. It does seem kind of pointless.

Yeah but Canada forced me to quarantine in a hotel for 6 days in September. I will be waiting forever for reimbursement. And yes the Canadian government called directly to make sure is was w quarantined

Or was it the inconvenience? People who are not very sick will not volunteer for the inconvenience. With the lifting of the covid rules, no one will be looking to be quarantined unless they are ill. As any reader of these boards can tell you, the "risks" aren't limited to catching covid, but that service while in quarantine can be slow, and that reimbursements can take quite some time after the cruise completes. As you said, you "knew the risks & were comfortable taking them". Mary I have no idea who you are talking about. We were on the Royal which announced on embarkation that masks were required then refused to enforce it. We wore masks except for eating or drinking and are sure we got it from the 95% who refused to mask

marie94949 Posted October 21, 2022 #41 Share Posted October 21, 2022 Having just experienced a mild case of Covid at home, I found that the US CDC does not consider a negative test necessary or relevant to end isolation. As I read it you can leave the house with a mask after 5 days if you are not sick, and you can drop the mask after another 5 days (total of 10). I work for the NHS so I had to say something, my husband started feeling ill during the day he tested postive that evening. If we had made it to the airport who knows where we would have ended up if he had not been allowed to fly. We were extremely well looked after on the ship and then in a 5star hotel everything was paid for so we can't complain.
