volk904 Posted October 21, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2022 Has anyone taken AmTrack out of Ft Lauderdale? If so how long does it take to get to station and get on a train? Is security long etc?
Langoustine Posted October 21, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2022 How long from where? There is no security.
FOPMan Posted October 21, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 21, 2022 Trains don’t have the same security parameters as planes. I’d look at the Hollywood station instead of Fort Lauderdale. It might be a few feet further away, but less traffic. 595 or Stirling Road (stop at Jaxson’s ice cream), get on 95 south to Hollywood Blvd, exit, two quick left turns. rkacruiser Posted October 21, 2022 #4 Share Posted October 21, 2022 I have taken Amtrak from Fort Lauderdale and it was about a 20-30 minute taxi ride from Marriott Harbor Beach Hotel. I was on the Silver Meteor which left early morning and I didn't think the traffic was bad. If the train leaves later in the day, then traffic may be an issue. FOPMan Posted October 21, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 21, 2022 My parents lived just north of Port Everglades for 50+ years. Downtown Fort Lauderdale traffic has definitely (if.not going on 95, you’d go through downtown to get from the port to the train station).. on some Sundays, there’s a jazz brunch that can add some traffic, and all bets are off between December and March on how long it would take. Rare FlaMariner Posted October 29, 2022 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2022 We've done early dis-embarkation from Port Everglades twice in the last year and easily took a cab to Amtrak Fort Lauderdale and had time to warm the bench waiting for the 8:50am northbound Amtrak Silver Meteor. Easy.
