Live from Jewel of the Seas Transatlantic 2022

Recommended Posts

Another good day aboard.  Food, staff, and restfulness continue to be excellent.

A couple of mildly negative things:

A little rocky today. The legs are getting a bit of a workout. The captain says that tomorrow will be worse.

The wifi has been poor most of the cruise, and today it was almost unusable.

Wasn't any better for us either. The best reception is in Centrum Deck 7-8 and in the Windjammer at some tables.😕

Hello everyone Day 8

as others have said internet was very patchy yesterday and logging into CC wasn’t great either! So here I am a day late.

Gaining these extra hours means I am up much earlier and made breakfast in the MDR again. After the wild hair look last night I was pleased I had booked an appointment in the hair salon! Looks much better now 😂

I had a pretty lazy morning but then ate lunch in the MDR, Roasted tomato soup followed by Salmon, sliced fennel and an orange sauce. Soup was very tasty but not sure about orange with fish.

Then it was back to the casino for the Blackjack tournament - which I won! 🥳🥳

$500 thank you very much.

I read for a while, whilst counting my money 😂 and then travelled through the ship as much as I could to take some pics which I will upload from my phone shortly.

Dinner was booked in Chops with my new cruise friend Ann. I had the beef carpaccio to start which was very nice, Ann had the Tuna tartare which she like a lot.

Next course, lobster bisque for me, goats cheese salad for Ann, neither of us were too impressed with these dishes.

We had both chosen rack of lamb, medium rare for main course. This turned out to be very disappointing. The chops, whilst blackened on the outside, were virtuall raw inside, the fat had not been rendered at all, still white - very unappetising.

We sent it back and it was better when returned. Puds New York cheesecake and warm apple pie with ice cream, neither were anything to shout about.

So overall, whilst we had a great evening chatting like old friends, Chops was a big disappointment and I won’t be returning! Food has been much better in the MDR. I did have a Taste of Royal lunch booked for the last day, I will cancel that later.

Pics to follow but first a pic of my great niece and nephew (7 and 4) in their Halloween costumes which my sister made including the mask. I adore this pic! ❤️❤️86B92CFC-5BEB-4C7E-B658-A965C7E6B05C.thumb.jpeg.d5a430bbdb590b952d0ca1f2465badc0.jpeg

Upside down MDR lunch menu - sorry don’t know how to fix that!

View from the Viking Crown Lounge.

Tribute to Veterans in the Centrum. A soloist with a beautiful voice sang The Star Spangled Banner and it was really quite emotional.

Why do you want to cancel Taste of Royal? Have you done that before? We recently did it for the first time at Jewel otS. A nice cross section of all the restaurants, two hours eating, we enjoyed it.👍

After doing Chops and finding it so disappointing I’m just not going to take the risk ☹️

Comfy chairs in the Schooner bar, entrance to the Safari Club, happy hour for Diamond and above is held here rather than the tiny Diamond lounge which is looking a bit forlorn.

George and Georgia giraffe guarding the entrance to Safari club.

The “rack of lamb”, table mates and my new room mate Dora the dinosaur!

That was Day 8, it’s now Day 9 and I’ll get back to you later.

By the way, the other thing I did yesterday was put a hold on a cruise on the Explorer in January, out of Miami and doing the ABC route.

Have to decide today , price is great and air fare is too. Decisions, decisions.

Bye for now 😘

Congrats on your win, will come in handy for spending money in the States.

Disappointing re Chops. Its showing £97 in my planner for Symphony next Spring. So over £200 for two with drinks. We will definitely be giving it a miss at those prices, especially if the quality isn't up to the upcharge

Cute pic of you G neice n nephew
