GRATUITY INFO

Farewell to your Tour Director Today you will say goodbye to your Tour Director and conclude your Princess escorted tour. As traditions and customs vary widely across the globe, we often have guests ask what gratuity guidelines are appropriate for the region they are touring. It is our belief that gratuities are a direct reflection of the level and quality of service received. It is customary to extend gratuities as a sign of appreciation on the last day of your land tour. The recommended industry standard for Europe is 4-5 Euros per person per day. Gratuities for the motorcoach driver, local guides and hotel porters are already included.   Extending gratuities is a personal matter and should be distributed on an individual basis without solicitation and not on behalf of any group.

Awesome to see the actual itinerary. Many thanks. I notice, however, that there is no mention of visiting the Bushmills distillery or the Guinness brewery.  If I visit Ireland I definitely want to do those two things! Guess I will have to visit a different part of Ireland. I'll have to check one day to see if there is a land tour that accomplishes those goals. It would be good to have a week or so in Ireland before cruising since port stops are pretty limiting.

Dublin is on many cruise port stops. This land trip didn’t go to Dublin. The beauty of Ireland is definitely in the country side. Though Dublin is worth a visit.

So I've been told and it's easy to believe. My wife's older brother and his wife visited Ireland on their own and drove all over the place. (I'm not sure I want to drive on the "wrong side" of the road...) As you stated, they said the Irish countryside was beautiful. They also said the people were warmly welcoming.

  • 1 month later...

A little off topic, but wanted to share that we did a Spain land tour this past Oct. prior to a Med/TA cruise. It was a week in Spain: Madrid, Toledo (from Madrid), Valencia, and Barcelona. The three hotels were all excellent, the tours were wonderful and nothing very early (thankfully), and the included dinners were all good and lots of fun. We had an independent tour guide, who was fabulous, and a full-sized coach for the 18 of us, so plenty of room to stretch out - and the driver was with us the whole time. We were very impressed - as good as any other pre/post tours we ever took on Viking.

Glad to hear this! When did you find out the hotel? We wanted to go in a day or 2 early and would be ideal if we could be in same hotel!!

It was listed in their Personalizer under itinerary. Not sure how far in advance but when we looked, we could see it. I think they have used that hotel for a few years.

They always had the air going in the day before but didn't book the hotel until a month or so before. Princess did not allow them to add on an additional day like they do in Alaska (through Princess). So their agent booked it for them.

They had to arrange their own cab to the hotel and they did get reimbursed for their costs.

If you want a more cruise-intensive visit to Ireland, Norwegian Star is going all the way around Ireland in May, going out of Southampton. It visits Waterford, overnight in Dublin, Belfast, Dingle and Galway on the West coast, Cobh and Killybegs. I booked because I've been to Dublin several times and did day trips around the country, but I've never seen an Ireland cruise that goes around the entire island. The ship leaves most of the ports at 9 pm, so there's time for touring, dinner on the ship, and visiting a pub or two before sailing away.

Thanks, I was just wanted to make pretty sure this is the hotel as I am a planner and want to go ahead and book a few days ahead of the tour start date. Happy New Year!

This is what happened last year. Since these tours haven't started this year - this is the best info out there. I do suggest you call Princess or dig around in your personalizer to see if there is an itinerary that is similar to what I posted (as I got that from the personalizer). Yes - it can change but Globus/Princess has used this hotel for a few years. It is possible they have not signed contracts on hotels yet for 2023 (though I am guessing it has been signed). So yes, anything can change.

The Jameson distillery is in Midleton not far from Cork City.
