Lonedaddy Posted November 11, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2022 We will be docked in Sydney on Australia day. Is the cruise port right near the harbor so the fireworks can be seen?
BBWC Posted November 11, 2022 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2022 You are on Regent, right? If so, you will be in White Bay, a long ways out. Only the big ships dock by the harbor.
possum52 Posted November 11, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2022 Australia Day fireworks in Sydney will commence at approx 9.15pm so whether you are docked at the OPT Circular Quay or at Whitebay you will have a great view of the fireworks. They are four ships in Sydney that day and evening according to the Sydney Ports website. White Bay is the other side of the bridge, not that far away but not easy to get to and from. The view is something like this: You would probably be better off making the trip into Circular Quay or the Opera House for a better view.

As the OP's ship is due to sail within a couple of hours of the fire works starting, it would not be a good idea to be anywhere else except on the ship. Imagine trying to get a taxi back to White Bay in time to be onboard for sailaway after the fireworks.
Rare MMDown Under Posted November 13, 2022 #6 Share Posted November 13, 2022 You will be able to see the fireworks in the sky from there. We've watched them from Drummoyne, which is a suburb further west than White Bay. Anywhere you can see the fireworks, away from the crowds, will be special.

They might adjust the departure to coincide with the fireworks who knows.

There may also be barges with fireworks situated in the middle of the harbour. Your departure will be at the scheduled time so that the harbour is clear for larger shipping to safely navigate.
