Electra 7 Posted November 13, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 13, 2022 We are going from Japan to Vancouver across international date line can anyone tell me about how they deal with time zones
d9704011 Posted November 13, 2022 #2 Share Posted November 13, 2022 Well, they don't change the time, they change the date. If you cross at 2:00 am on the 25th, it'll soon be 2:01 am on the 24th.
Electra 7 Posted November 13, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted November 13, 2022 thanks I understood that I actually mean the fact that there is a 17 hr time difference between Japan and Vancouver as well as international date line time

lissie Posted November 14, 2022 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2022 Some days the clocks will change - we had it happen at 9am (moved to 10am) on our first cruise this year - and then on the same ship the time was changed at 2am on the 2nd cruise. Its detailed in the daily program (though due to very poor proof reading on our second cruise it was needlessly confusing)

Don’t they leave the TV on with the announcement?
busmech Posted November 14, 2022 #8 Share Posted November 14, 2022 There will be an announcement in the daily program for time changes. As to the day change you will have the same day 2 times. As you are traveling from west to east you will loose an hour for every timezone. And if you ever want to see the ship time there are clocks in all the stairwell landings. Hope they still give out the certificates for crossing the dateline.

I think on the evening before it happens (Tuesday night in my hypothetical) but its absence Monday night might not make you realize that it's not happening that night if you've understood the published info incorrectly. I think it may have been done inconsistently. Our Britannia waiting staff took to telling us!

Which ship is that ? The only ship's clocks I remember on QE was outside on the aft Lido pool deck and the decorative one on the lighted stairs near the Casino?
