Can you carry on bottled water while checking in?

as far as I know, yes. Besides what was in my checked luggage, I had a 6 pack of coke (cans) and a Sprite in a bottle in a shopping bag, and also a bottle of water in my carry on bag. Nobody batted an eye. Also had two bottles of wine which nobody checked.

Did you leave out of Pier 29 at Port Everglades? Any issues getting there (assuming you were dropped off)?

Yes, Pier 29. No issues for me. I took a mid-priced Uber that was about $15 before tip.

A taxi from the airport to my hotel was cheaper (and faster) than Uber at the time.

It would be comparing apples and oranges. I believe every cruise line has something to offer and Carnival and Celebrity are not direct competitors anyway.

The ship is very nice; my balcony is amazing. The bathroom is good sized - much better than Celebration. I have not noticed much rust - very little, in fact, although I'm not obsessed with finding any, either. Dinner the first night was incredible - dinner last night was somewhat of a let down. Many of the shore excursions are the same. The internet is not as good as what I had on Celebration, yet costs more.

The non-smoking casino is a plus. Everyone gets free drinks while gambling it seems, but service can be slow. One of the casino bartenders finally asked me if I wanted a drink this morning  and brought it to me, yet staff does not seem to be lacking.

Dirty dishes seem to be quickly dispositioned on Lido and not left on tables for an extended period.

Missing is a comedy club or I haven't found one.

The elevators are efficient and I haven't had to wait a long time for one.

The cabins are quieter and/or the passengers more sedate. While there are young people on the ship, there are also some fossils.

Whether allowed or not, I brought some bottled water in my checked luggage and it made it to the cabin. Each adult can carry on 2 bottles of wine vs 1 on Carnival.

Carnival Elation was in Nassau when we were there, and honestly I was somewhat wishing I was on that rust bucket, even without a balcony or the better food. One thing missing is the Carnival vibe which I really can't explain. Not really any complaints about Celebrity, the staff are nice and helpful, but Celebrity doesn't cruise from ports within an easy drive for us. If I have to fly to a cruise, I prefer it to be something special like the Med or Alaska or Antarctica or...

Very on point observations IMO. We've butted heads on many threads here on CC so I was curious how you would perceive a Celebrity cruise. Rightly or wrongly I have the opinion that you seemed to view that Carnival can do no wrong, so I was pleasantly surprised that your opinions about Celebrity are fair and balanced. I'm glad you're having a good time and I understand exactly what you mean about the vibe on Carnival vs Celebrity.

As someone who enjoys and values the aesthetics of my surroundings the entire Celebrity Fleet has the upscale contemporary aesthetics that I find very pleasing which is why I was so hard on the Carnival Pride when it's counterparts on Celebrity are the Millennium Class ships and their aesthetics are so far removed from the Spirit Class on Carnival. But to be fair I still sail on them but begrudgingly.

Again thank you for your reporting and enjoy your cruise. As time goes by I have less patience to do live trip reports since I know how time consuming they are, so your efforts are appreciated.

Thank you. I have tons more. Between the ship Internet and the fact that I have a new disposable laptop, it is taking me a while to get in a rhythm. But Jamaica and Cozumel will be mostly sea days for me so should have more time to figure things out.

Great  photos. If you get a chance and can sneak into Michael's Club I'd love to see some photos to see if ANYTHING was done to it during the recent drydock.

Tried a couple of minutes ago but didn't realize the flash on my phone was on and lit up the whole place. If I can, I'll try after my excursion tomorrow. They are on to me today. I did take one through the glass.

So in Tuscan you paying extra to dine there than they want extra for a steak 😱

Well it does say something special! 🙂

I think because it is Prime vs whatever the included steaks are.
