We are doing a cruise in March 2023 and arriving two days before our cruise. We need a RAT 24 hours before boarding. Where can we get a medically observed test in Auckland. We are staying near  the cruise pier.

Why do you need a medically  observed RAT ?20221226_043501.thumb.jpg.1983b17dd9522b0d3a16c6bd7e963d53.jpggood day NZ20221226_050318.thumb.jpg.392b46f56571a9a08277d12e704e003b.jpg

What I think Hogbay is indicating, that for ships operating out of Australian/NZ ports, you do not need a supervised rat test in Aust/NZ.

You just do your own rat test and take a photo of it, with your passport or drivers licence, with something showing current time and date, ie: a phone; a tablet, or laptop.

Then submit that on your cruise app.

Assuming the cruise line your joining has one, ie: Princess; P&O Aust; etc.

More detail as to cruise line your planning on joining would help, for specific help with that cruise.

Regards

You might even be lucky to get free RAT kits on arrival at Auckland airport. They had big boxes of them near the customs desks when we arrived there ten days ago. One box (containing four tests) per passenger, help yourself.

Which cruise line? As all the big brands allow self-testing down under. Some of the smaller boutique and ultra-luxury brands may be different im not sure but If its Azamara they have just dropped (as of yesterday) the supervised testing in Australia so expect NZ will be the same, you still need to test but supervision is not required you can do at home or in your hotel as long as its within 24 hours of boarding.

Explore Well At Sea | Azamara

  • At-home test kits are also accepted in Australia. Proof of negative test must be presented upon embarkation, either by showing the test kit or a photo of the negative result.

We will be on a Holland America cruise and as of now they require a RAT 24 hours before we board. Must be a medically supervised test. Where can we get one in Auckland near the pier and the cost.

We boarded Westerdam 6 days ago and they did NOT require a medically supervised test. Self test within 24 hours of boarding and take a photo with the test cartridge and the details requested below:

If you're flying in to Auckland you might even be lucky enough to get free test kits at the airport.

It may well be that your reading the requirements for HAL operating out of US cruises.

And that the requirements for cruises out of NZ & Aust is different.

It has been noted that the Medallion App has the same hiccup in instructions when used down here.

The instructions are or was, contradictory to what's being advise as required here.

maybe there is an office for HAL down here that can be contacted for clarification?

Is there a place in Auckland that we can get a medically observed antigen test.

For a cruise? You shouldn't need a medically observed test. Most cruise lines in our region just require a self test within 24 hours of embarking. You take a photo of the result alongside your photo id (passport, drivers licence) and sonething showing the current date and time ( we use each others phones with the date/time showing on the lock screen).

As advised above, your antigen test does not have to be medically observed.

I am booked on a Holland America cruise out of Auckland myself next month and the 'Important Notification' I received last week stated:

"... Guests ages 2 and above are required to take a viral COVID-19 test prior to
embarkation and attest to a negative result. A PCR test may be taken within 48
hours before embarkation or a self-administered Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) may be
taken within 24 hours. Guests who opt for the RAT must take a photo with their
mobile device showing the results along with their full name, date and time of
the test.
Please view requirements at https://bit.ly/hal_twfaq "

(bolding of text by me)

No mention of need for medical observation.

In the requirements FAQ mentioned it states:

For cruises visiting Australia that allow an at-home, self-administered Antigen COVID-19 test (RAT), guests should take one photo with their mobile device that meets all of the criteria outlined below:

  • Negative RAT test next to the guest’s government issued photo ID with a clock showing the time the test was complete (a wristwatch, mobile phone screen or a wall clock, etc.).

We are doing a cruise on Holland America, March 2023 out of New Zealand, flying in 2 days before cruise and staying near Port.  Is there a testing facility in that area?  Was also wondering, we have self administer COVID 19 tests, but don't know if we can take those with us and use them the morning of the cruise. Does anyone know what HAL is accepting. Thank you in advance.
