wmjivey Posted January 2, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2023 Greetings it has been a while since I last posted, I currently still shoot my Sony A6300 when I travel, I rent lens for whatever I am interested in like wildlife and landscapes. We are taking the Disney cruise in September and was wondering if my 18-105 f4 can do all the work or is there a lens I should rent that will do me more Justice? Rare pierces Posted January 3, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2023 The only do-it-all lens I would suggest if you didn't already have the 18-105 would be the 18-135 (SEL18135). The 18-105 was my go-to lens on my A6000 and later on my A6300. It is still in use on my Granddaughter's A6600 and going strong. Unless you want to rent one of the third-party superzooms like the Sigma 18-250 or Tamron 18-300, I would stick with the excellent image quality and constant aperture of the 18-105. You may want to consider purchasing or renting a dedicated wide angle like the Samyang 12mm F2.0 AF or even the Sony 10-20mm F4 G zoom for things like interiors, landscapes or architecture where the 24mm equivalent wide end on your 18-105 isn't enough. Just my 4¢... Dave
wmjivey Posted January 4, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted January 4, 2023 Thanks Dave as usual you are great with helping, I do have the Samyang so I should be set. I don't believe I would need a telephoto since most ports are cities, please correct me if anyone has done a British Isle cruise and found different. Victress2007 Posted January 16, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2023 Thank you! After reading this post I went back and checked out photos from my 2018 British Isles cruise. I took the vast majority of them with my 6300 with the 15-135 lens. I took a few more with a wide angle. My favorite stop was Glasgow, we took a private photo tour and it was fantastic. Tom took us all over the city and they have great street art, churches, museums, buildings, etc and he took us to all of it. So I think you'll do great with that lens. Vic Can you give a bit more information about the photo tour. I would be interested and the only one I can find is a ship's tour. Thanks
