Rare scooter6139 Posted January 23, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2023 No. Items such as sodas, energy drinks or other non-alcoholic items are not allowed on board in any form. Plastic water bottles are not allowed. However, an allowance of six liters, twelve (12) cans or cartons (500 ml in volume or less) or six (6) cans or cartons (1 liter in volume or less) of water are allowed per stateroom. Any amount in excess of this allowance will be not be allowed onboard. Water in plastic bottles will not be allowed onboard in any quantity, including in ports of call. Guests will be asked to discard open beverages in plastic containers prior to boarding. All checked and carry-on luggage will be scanned and any prohibited items, including alcoholic/nonalcoholic beverages will be removed, confiscated, and discarded. https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US/faq.cruise-preparation.what-about-upgrades.html
jenp123 Posted January 24, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2023 You can try if you are willing to loose it. In Fort lauderdale in Nov and Dec, security was very strict about taking plastic bottles of any type, but let canned pop go on, even though it is against the rules. Rare CruiserN1 Posted January 24, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2023 I'm wondering if canned seltzer water counts as water (not the alcohol kind, stuff like LaCroix). It comes in cans and it is water. It's my drink of choice and not available on the ship.

I would guess so, but I'd rather bring my flavor of choice and not have to pay $2.50 for fizzy water (I don't do the bev package).

Rare Btimmer Posted January 24, 2023 #8 Share Posted January 24, 2023 We've had no issues bringing canned soda onboard after the departure from the US. Canned soda is available onboard the ship at the tended bars as well as for purchase in the stateroom mini-fridge.
Gunther1 Posted January 25, 2023 #9 Share Posted January 25, 2023 I've had absolutely no issue carrying canned soda on board on my last three cruises.

I had planned to bring on a few of my preferred caffeine free sodas next week, knowing they could get confiscated. Happy they are using common sense rather than being petty. Tell me again how six cans of soda brought on board will damage their bottom line...

But then where do they draw the line? 6 cans for you, but 6 cases for someone else..

When asked at security "what's in our bag?", we said LaCroix sparkling water, and they let us pass with no other questions.
doone Posted January 29, 2023 #13 Share Posted January 29, 2023 I drink seltzer also, I have had no problem ordering Perrier waters onboard.
