Krazcruiser Posted January 30, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2023 i'll be visiting Roatan, Cozumel and Costa Maya first week of May aboard the Allure, do any of these destinations have a seaweed issue this time of the year, thanks
Rare brillohead Posted January 31, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2023 Costa Maya and Cozumel do (I'm on my third week of this same itinerary). It just depends on Mother Nature, though -- some days are heavy, others aren't.

Ret MP Posted January 31, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2023 There are several websites dedicated to the seaweed forecast. Just type in the location and "XXXX Sargassum seaweed forecast"

Sea-Bos Posted March 14, 2023 #6 Share Posted March 14, 2023 Here is the link I was using: SEAS Forecasting (seas-forecast.com) Our islands are too tiny to be mentioned but I am just going to have to tell my husband "You do what you do and you like it" Or something like that. If he listened to baseball instead of intellectual news he wouldn't be worried. lol

RJ257 Posted March 15, 2023 #11 Share Posted March 15, 2023 Roatan port was loaded with sargassum last spring. Beach i was on was not affected. Presently a large 5000 mile bloom is moving westward thru the Caribbean as of the February satellite photo from the University of South Florida Optical Oceanography Lab. Have seen nothing here on south Florida beach recently. Looks to be below Florida in the February photograph but its large. https://optics.marine.usf.edu/projects/saws.html
