crzn4fun Posted March 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2006 We have 6 in our party, no small children. If you had to choose between 2 connecting GS's or 1 RFS on the Explorer which would you pick and why?
Hflors Posted March 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2006 The choice was easy for us. Four sisters (should have been five) GS only on bath (one sis didn't want to share a bathroom with three sisters) and I think small balcony (95? sq ft). RFS two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a huge balcony (200 sq ft) plus and aft cabin! What could be better? That's my idea of a cruise (oh yea the minium is five so we had to pay for our sister even though she isn't going. Tough luck (no refund!)
cb at sea Posted March 9, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2006 I'd do 2 or 3 adjoining balconies or JS's. Too many in 1 space for me! Even tho' a GS is pretty big--there's still no place to get away from the others!
crzn4fun Posted March 9, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Thanks for the responses. I love to spend time on the balcony so the larger one on the RFS sounds great.
wrp96 Posted March 9, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2006 I think I would go with 2 GS or 3 JS instead of 1 RFS. The RFS has one nice room with master bath, plus another room that is the size of an inside stateroom. How do you decide which of the 6 of you get the private room and who gets stuck in the other room?
funinthesun82 Posted March 9, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Your family must be reeeeeaaaaallllly close. 8 of us went on a 10 day Panama Canal Cruise this time last year. There was always the inconvient interuption:) LOL!! I would opt for seperate staterooms. If my family decides to go on the same type of cruise, we will all be at different parts of the ship, getting together for dinner, casino night, pool fun etc..... Don't get me wrong, I love my family but we love our privacy a little more. Anyone else feel this way??? BB
Theresa522 Posted March 9, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 9, 2006 I agree with you competely!!!! I went on a cruise with my family last July and my sister drove me nuts.. She got really pissed off because my daughter who was 11 wanted to go to the kids club instead of staying with her 7 year old cousin. I told her it was up to her to decide how she wanted to spend -her- vacation. Was I wrong?? So there is no way I can even think of staying in the same room. I love her to death but we also need our space..
FlorenceItaly Posted March 9, 2006 #8 Share Posted March 9, 2006 My sister and I cruised on the Mariner together, in a balcony stateroom. I said never again, lol. I'm sure she felt the same way. This trip we are sailing on the Oosterdam, and we have booked separate rooms. I think this will work very well for us :). We leave on the 18th of this month. critterchick Posted March 9, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 9, 2006 I would go for the connecting GS cabins. I haven't been on a Voyager class ship, so I can't comment on the size of the balconies, but surely they will hold 6 people for a cocktail party or sitting around yakking. Not knowing the relationships, I would not want to be one of the two people who have to share a sofa bed in the RFS. At least they'd have the option of their own sofa bed with the two GS.
