40+guy Posted March 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Stop me if this seems too FOOLISH!!! I am not excited about my footwear options and was looking for some advice. I am too fat to fit into my tux and don't want to rent so I am packing a dark suit. I also am not excited about packing any of my wingtips, instead I am tempted to pack my dull finish Merrell's: http://www.shoes.com/product.asp?p=5001840%7EMens%7CCasual%7EMERR&sc=MENS&variant_id=06795 So am I risking a fashion fiasco? Cats' slave Posted March 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Assuming the wingtips go with the suit, I think they'd be better for formal night.

Rare Lois R Posted March 9, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Hi:) I agree with the 1st 2 replies. I definitely think your wing tips will go better with your suit. (Now, if it is health reasons and you cannot wear the dress shoes, that is a different thing). But if you are asking opinions about what goes best with the suit, definitely the dress shoes go better. 40+guy Posted March 9, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted March 9, 2006 :( :p You all are as bad as my wife....I knew the answer but you know how you still hope for a different result. ;) Hmmm, I think I'll try and sneak the old comfy pair into the luggage. :D
Andee Posted March 9, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Those shoes are very casual to me--with a dark suit on formal night, it would look like the suitcase with your shoes in it got lost, so you had to wear the pair you wore on the plane to your cruise. Cats' slave Posted March 9, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Take the comfy pair. Wear them all day long. Wear them on casual nights. Wear them shopping with your wife and sightseeing. But on formal night, you gotta get dressed up.
babylene Posted March 9, 2006 #8 Share Posted March 9, 2006 My husband wears black SAS shoes with his tux ....on a cruise, that is. A) they are comfortable and B) it saves packing an extra pair of heavy shoes. I doubt that anyone has ever noticed....and if they did...who cares? ciderapple Posted March 9, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 9, 2006 You'll only get away with wearing your Merrells if your pants are long enough over the heel at the back :D Why do so many American men wear their pants too short? I think you whould wear the dress shoes too. Have fun, anyhow :)
