JOHN 57 Posted February 8, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2023 I would like to know, if smoking is permitted in Piano Bar on the Celebration. Thank you.
mz-s Posted February 8, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2023 No. The only indoor smoking area left is the casino slots and table games, only when actively playing in designated areas. There are a few outdoor areas as well. https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3490/~/locations-where-you-can-smoke

PokerFaceNJ Posted February 10, 2023 #5 Share Posted February 10, 2023 No, thank goodness! Only the one door and there would not be much ventilation.
Rare BoozinCroozin Posted February 10, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2023 Smoking should only be permitted outdoors, not in the casino. I know about 5% of the population will disagree with that.

It must drive you nuts having to walk through the casino while smelling all that smoke. Hell, you can usually smell the casino from the stairwell on most ships.

I can smell it when someone across the street is smoking. I guess I mentally prepare myself somehow before a cruise because it doesn't bother me too much. I went on 4 Carnival cruises last year, and spent a lot of time in the Casino on each. But I will say - the last cruise I got off of, a Disney cruise - was VERY nice, having never gotten even a whiff of smoke. The Disney ship I was on had only two remotely located smoking areas and I never had occasion to be near them.

Every time I walk into the front door of a hotel, mall or restaurant the smoke gags me to death. The front doors must be accepted as a designated smoking area, for real. mz-s Posted February 12, 2023 #14 Share Posted February 12, 2023 Smoking is regional. In my area of the country, tobacco is still part of the food pyramid so it probably is closer to 25% but I'd say it's still quite a bit lower than that. But in NYC or Seattle or even Miami I'd guess it's lower still.
WKUTopperFan Posted February 13, 2023 #15 Share Posted February 13, 2023 Carnival gets my gambling dollars because I don't have to pay for anything (my suite, my drinks, RS, etc are comped) and I can SMOKE in their casinos. The moment Carnival bans smoking in the casino I'm off to another line that better suits my taste ( I sailed on the Celebrity Apex on a comped trip over Thanksgiving and loved the ship/cruise but hated not being able to smoke in the casino). My casino host is well aware of my stance on smoking in the casino and where I would go if it was taken away. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there that has voiced this to their host. I'm glad some of the ships have put in smoke free casinos for non smokers... hopefully that takes pressure off eliminating smoking in the main casino! Smoke um if you got um!

I will not cruise with a line that doesn't allow smoking in the casino. 13% of the US smokes. 25% of the world smokes. And we spend money in the casino. Lots of it. Which is why we get free cruises, free drinks, free specialty dining, free spa treatments, free transfers, free excursions, etc. And of course, free casino cash. I'll bet well over 25% of the pax on a cruise never step foot in the casino.
groundloop Posted February 13, 2023 #17 Share Posted February 13, 2023 There are plenty of non-smokers (such as myself) who would spend more time in the casino if we didn't have to breath that awful stench. And the land based casinos which are non-smoking seem to be doing well.
dan-ber Posted February 13, 2023 #18 Share Posted February 13, 2023 Not a smoker myself, but really don't mind the smell. It kinda takes me back in time where people smoked any and everywhere. Back to the times where people cared less about their politics and having their every opinion heard in real time.. The good ole days..

Then the 5% of you need to cover all of the illness and cancer costs for the non-smokers. Most stupid comment I ever heard!!! I guarantee smokers would still be gambling the same amount if casinos were non-smoking.

Most stupid comment I ever heard!!! I guarantee smokers would still be gambling the same amount if casinos were non-smoking. I would answer that by saying you should read up on the history of the Carnival Paradise before you make such a guarantee. It's a win/win situation for you. First, the smoking gamblers help pay for your cruise. Second, if their smoking prevents you from going in the casino you also save whatever money you would have inevitably ended up losing there. You won't need any illness and cancer costs from their second hand smoke covered if you don't go into the casino and expose yourself to it. If you do decide to take that risk, that's on you, not the people smoking. (OK, that's probably not fair. Since gambling is an addiction, it may not be so simple to just not go to the casino for some people. Not implying you necessarily.) 1
mz-s Posted February 13, 2023 #24 Share Posted February 13, 2023 Carnival tried nonsmoking casinos around Christmas 2021 when Delta or whichever variant was spiking, and quickly reverted back to allowing smoking just a few weeks later. It's clear that Carnival's casino guests, the ones that actually butter the bread with their huge losses, are smokers.

Vegas and other gambling joints weren’t built with their money, they were built with gamblers money!
