South Pacific flying from the UK

We have flown to Hawaii a few times but now looking at flying to Sydney for a cruise. 
 

We are lucky as have time before and after (finishing Hawaii) the cruise 

 

Just wondering how you fly to Sydney with a stop (cannot face straight through)

 

Which route do you fly?

 

Wondering whether to fly return to Hawaii then single flight to Sydney 

 

I genuinely have no idea 🤷‍♀️ 😂

The other consideration is to look for airlines/cities that have free stopover programs, so you are not breaking the fare into two separate tickets rather than one through fare.

 

Qatar and Emirates and Etihad come to mind for mid-east stopovers.  Closer to Australia, look at Singapore and Cathay.
