Reader11175 Posted February 28, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2023 Hi, Looking for recommendations/information/suggestions for hotel and things we can do if we fly into Seattle day before cruise on NCL Encore to Alaska. Thank you very much! Add: Edgewater has 2 night minimum in August. Marriott waterfront is $500 and saw in review: noisy with nearby trains and major construction in process Any other hotels recommended? or is Marriot waterfront still a good idea? Much appreciated! Glaciers Posted February 28, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2023 The primary construction near the Marriott is almost complete with the new road opening in the next month or so. The trains do run behind the Marriott but I’ve only read a few noise issues from it. When we’ve stayed there I do not remember any train noise so it must have been slight. Not quite as convenient as being across the street but just 4 blocks away is the Belltown Inn with a gradual downhill walk to the terminal. I like the location much more than the Marriott as there are many more restaurants nearby. Hard to beat just walking across the street to the cruise terminal though.

"Best hotel" is sort of broad without any parameters. Personally I love the Edgewater, but if its not available and money is no object the Four Seasons has a tremendously good location and is pretty flawless. Taking it down a rung in cost the Fairmont Olympic just had a major renovation and has a bunch of great new dining options-- classic Seattle experience. Third place would be Hotel Sorrento but now we're starting to venture a bit away from the waterfront.

KeepCalmBearOn Posted February 28, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2023 (edited) I like the Edgewater, but Hyatt at 8 Olive, Fairmont Olympic and Kimpton Hotel Vintage are my main places that I stay. 90% of my Seattle trips are business trips. Northern Aurora Posted February 28, 2023 #8 Share Posted February 28, 2023 We have stayed at the Marriott Waterfront at least five times either pre- or post cruises. The convenience to Pier 66 (Bell Street) is wonderful, but for those on cruises departing from Pier 92 (Smith Cove) the Marriott concierge books folks on an inexpensive shuttle from the hotel to Smith Cove. And we have not had any issues with noise from the trains which run behind the hotel nor any issues with construction noise. The hotel itself is undergoing renovation and no noise from the renovation when we stayed there last June either.
