js Posted March 7, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2023 Hi. I believe the Joy hasn't docked yet in Bermuda but do all the large ships dock on the same side? I want to be facing the port when I'm on the Joy in July. Thank you.
Rare BirdTravels Posted March 7, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2023 Nope. Docking side is driven by operational needs. That being said, we docked in October on the Starboard side.
vacation44 Posted March 7, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2023 Also docked two times on Starboard side, but as BirdTravels advised, it is driven by operational needs.

njhorseman Posted March 7, 2023 #5 Share Posted March 7, 2023 I've been on two Bermuda cruises where the ship changed its docking orientation during the stay. Again, operational considerations. The ships needed to perform lifeboat tests on both sides of the ship because they had been unable to do them on schedule at previous ports. JustAllie Posted March 7, 2023 #6 Share Posted March 7, 2023 My friend and I were lucky enough to have an aft-facing cabin that was pointed in just the right direction during the America's Cup sailing races when they were in Bermuda in 2017. What a view! But there was a 50/50 chance we would have been facing the wrong direction, and it's also possible that another ship could have been in our way. So we knew were were very lucky that "operational considerations" were on our side that time.
