Is there any ballroom dancing on NCL Epic? What is the music like with the live bands or DJ. How is the production show?

We enjoy some ballroom dancing and would like to know if there is a pre-recorded ballroom music hour in one of the lounges? I remember sailing on the Epic before, and the bands would play the occasional Waltz, Cha Cha, Rumba ..etc in one of the lounges. Do they still have a live band playing in the Manhattan Club during dinner time that you can dance while you are having dinner? What type of music do the live bands play? Can anyone please post some of the daily activity sheet here so I can look at what the entertainment is. We just sailed with the NCL Sun in January, and they actually had a pre-recorded ballroom music hour in one of their lounges. But their entertainment was very minimal. They had one production show, and 2 more shows with a flamingo couple and the rest of the journey they had no guest artist at all for our 11 day sailing . Very surprising. Does the NCL Epic still have a show with a guest artist every evening? Years ago, the had the  "Burn the Floor" production show and it was really good. How is the production shows nowadays? Any info on the Epic is welcome. Thank you in advance.

Good afternoon, Just returned from the EPIC, They still have Burn the floor. Manhattan room still had a band and some folks were dancing.  Priscilla is no longer there and was not replaced with a big production show yet.  There was a lot of entertainment around the ship. 2 different comedians, a Magician, Elton John show and Beatles, Howl at the moon.  Have a great time

no ballroom dancing on any ncl ship  as far as i know.

Breakaway had it in October in Manhattan Room.  I enjoyed dancing there in between courses.  There was not any on Encore in February with the exception of salsa/bachata in Sugarcane.

We first started dancing on an NCL ship, the Crown in 2006.

We also danced on the Epic in 2012.

And hope for dancing on the Prima this summer.

For ballroom dancing a better option is going to be Holland America or even Princess

We had no ballroom dancing on our last HAL cruise. ((But the Maasdam is no longer in their fleet, and they claimed there was dancing on their larger ships.)

There is a nice dance floor on the Epic in the Manhattan Room.  They had a Duo from South Africa who would switch from jazz to dance music if people were up.  The key is to get seated around seven when the music starts.  Some percent of seats were for walk ins it opened up after seven. Alvin kindly kept the covers on dinner for us while we were up.

The two smallest HAL ships still have dance floors and combos in Oceans.  Cunard has a dedicated formal ballroom and orchestra on each ship.

Jeez, all I heard on my 16 day cruise with Princess was ballroom and easy listening dance music.  I thought I was going to die.

As I said in my previous post, we did not have ballroom dancing on our last HAL cruise on the former Maasdam. Both when I spoke with them at the purser's desk and in their reply to my survey complaint about no ballroom dancing, I was told that it could be found on their LARGER ships.

The best way to try to validate this is to view daily programs in detail for the ship in question.  The Epic has a dance floor, orchestra and the mention of dancing.  Now on some ships, the orchestra may decide to play jazz standards or fusion which is hard to dance to.   On another line last year, we convinced a duo from India to play country two step - they were quite good.   You can sometimes get the acts to rummage in the song sheets and come up with something.  Or on a ship over school holidays there might be a dozen young children out there making dancing impossible.  These days, except for a few sure bets - finding ballroom dancing on a ship is like a casino- a game of chance.

So this Epic trip has a three piece orchestra who plays ballroom dance music most nights 8:15-9 in Manhattan.   There is a good size dance floor taken up 20% by tables due to crowding.  You can grab a beeper at 7- seated by 7:45.  Or zip in and stand by a column or there are four standby tables just inside reception.

The Entice Duo also plays ballroom, they are often in the Atrium.  So some nights you had 90 minutes of ballroom.  Rumba, Cha Cha, Waltz even Tango and Two Step.

They had recorded ballroom a few nights also.  There are maybe 20 couples who dance.  There was even a ballroom contest.  And one other guitar musician who would put together dance music.  There was a Latin ish group - Cha Cha etc.
