Drop Luggage and Go

Recommended Posts

Is it acceptable to choose a late check in time, arrive early at the port and drop off my luggage and then leave the terminal to go and explore the departure city?

I am just wondering if there are any security issues of processing luggage from a person who may not check in until 5-6 hours later.

Thanks

Yes, though the drop off may not be available that much earlier (1-2 hours) than the earliest check in time.

It depends on what port you are talking about.  Example, San Juan, ship leaves late.  I did it there, even check in, than leave.  Some ports in Europe, you don't really drive to a "port" like in Florida.  So yes, it is easy to drop your luggage and go.  But many ports, this might not be so easy.  So please tell everyone exactly where you are going
