Are drinks package upgrades discounted onboard? Seeing $12 vs $20 pp

We currently have Classic and we’re seeing a cost of $20 per person per day to upgrade to Premium. This is our first Celebrity cruise (we’ve cruised with Disney 5 times) and I’ve been looking at some daily schedules online to get an idea of the activities onboard and noticed several listings for a $12 upgrade from Classic to Premium. Is this standard practice? Should we just wait and upgrade after boarding? Thanks!

Normally the price to upgrade pre cruise has been slightly less than upgrading on the ship.

Personally, I would recommend that you consider upgrading before boarding with the discount in your CP OR pending when you are sailing, there could be a sale before you leave.

 

Expecting a discount on-board could be chancing it, as I have not encountered that before.

Most likely older daily’s they are looking at.  Ones that were before the new rates.

It used to be $12 now it’s $20.
