Symphony - Aquamarine (Classic) w/Veranda on Deck 10

We are trying to find out if the above suites have been refurbished any any way; such as new carpeting, draperies, new upholstery etc.  Also trying to see from the floor layout where the beverage center is located.  One last question please; is the bottom part of the balcony railing solid?  I would appreciate any assistance.  Regards Pam

It seems Aquamarine on Deck 10 are Classic design. I can only offer two screen shots which may help you.

A good question.  As I recall from Original Crystal Serenity, a handful of cabins very forward, that had deeper verandahs, did have a solid plate at the bottom of the balcony railing. The deeper verandahs are apparent on the deck plan.

Yes, this is the 2018 version of the aquamarine suite.

Thanks to everyone who quickly replied to me.  As some of you are aware, there are two Aquamarine Veranda suites 1) Classic and 2) Redesigned 2017.  We have seen the photos of both on the Website.  We are interested in the Classic on Deck 10; the only deck the Classic is located.  We are attempting to find out if the Classic suites have been refurbished regarding carpeting, draperies, furniture upholstered, etc. and if so when.

 

Again, I appreciate everyone's help!

What we do know is the classic Aquamarine on Serenity) were not redone. I knew this before as we asked on a webinar that was held prior to the cruise but that was specific to Symphony.  No walls were moved, etc.

 

I am pretty sure that will be the case with Symphony. So assuming it is like Serenity then changes will not be made in terms or replacing furniture, changing design etc. Things that might be updated are soft items and that depends. If like Serenity it would be bed linen and cover, etc.

 

I have stayed in these rooms on Symphony but not in one with the wider verandah.  If just a normal PH then you don't have the solid bottom and if there is one just like other categories I've seen this with while solid you can easily see above it and that would not be a factor in my decision.

I just wanted to add that at a minimum, Symphony’s Classic Aquamarines received new carpet, sofas, chairs, coffee tables, artwork and softgoods prior to the 2021 restart, and don’t look like the picture currently on Crystal’s website (from above) anymore — even if nothing was done to them in this refit (which may or may not be the case).

I think some of it was the lighting in the pics...  I actually loved the colors -- it went well with the existing elements of the room and looked very spiffy while being very soothing at the same time.  If that's not your thing, you can always pick one of the other generation of the room with the louder decor.

Vince, thank you for posting the photo of the 2021 refreshed Symphony Aquamarine Classic suite.  In my opinion the subtle changes made such a difference.  I agree with you in so much as the lighting does not highlight how stunning these cabins actually look in person.  I have always been frustrated with the architects of the Crystal website for using out-dated images that do not accurately reflect current decor.  They do themselves a disservice.  Experienced Crystal clientele pretty much know what they are getting when they book a Classic or Seabreeze decor, whether it be Aquamarine or the larger Sapphire, especially if they were fortunate to sail after the pandemic with Old Crystal.   What strikes me as a missed opportunity is the focus to attract new clients to New Crystal while at the same time not providing accurate information to help people make informed decisions.  The refresh to Symphony suites are a far cry from the images shown on the website.   Hopefully they will have professional photographers take new photographs of the suites to include in marketing materials and on the website.

I agree 100%...  This particular case has some unique circumstances around it that I'm willing to cut them a little more slack for, but overall I definitely agree 100%.

 

Crystal normally had a regular marketing partner that came, staged and photographed the staterooms shortly after each refit (and not just Paragon Pixels) when they were updated, and within 6 months or so the whole process would be complete and new photos were in circulation.  The 2021 refits were kind of unique since they were more limited in scope, everyone was trying to limit the number of outside visitors onboard in 2021, and everyone was limiting marketing dollar to the highest impact projects across the industry at the time, not just at Crystal.  I wouldn't be surprised if that one they posted is the most current publication-grade photo they have at the moment, until the process repeats itself again now.

 

I'm looking forward to all the new photos we'll see in the coming months online, replacing the renderings and historical ones.

Before Symphony shut down, the 2017 PS, now Sapphire had a washer/dryer. I'm not sure if they kept them or not.

Just a quick note that all the pics I’ve seen on social media show no noticeable furnishing changes to Symphony’s Classic Aquamarines, so the pics above should still be accurate (as expected).

Vince that's correct.

 

The classic rooms that remain on both ships had very few changes. In some cases new paint and touchups and likely new phones, TV's (at least Serenity had both) and new bed linens.  

The changes are in the rooms where they needed to move walls.

Same goes for the rooms renovated in 2017 on Symphony with the introduction of the Sea Breeze category.

I think what I’m noticing is that Symphony got fewer of those random updates than Serenity did (not that those items specifically weren’t updated, just in general I mean).

….Not that Symphony needed as much decor work vs. mechanical, she had a heavier interior refit prior to the 2021 restart than Serenity, including most of the carpets throughout the ship.

 

BTW, did they rename the Pulse Nightclub on Serenity?  I found it interesting that they switched Luxe to Jade (though the deck plans still say Luxe), but clearly Serenity’s night club is the one that needs the unfortunate name change more urgently, no matter what they do with both rooms longer-term.

 

I know there were no plans to change the Starlite, but I always, for years, just have to say a little part of me dies every time I see the hideous pseudo-stained glass and flying saucer ceiling over the dance floor.  It went ok with the old disco theme that the room  originally had, but why it wasn’t replaced in the original conversion (or any refit since) baffles me, given the overall priority for refit funds each time.

Vince, I know it's part of your job, but I'm always amazed at your observational skills. I've been on Symphony 23 times (more cruises with the various B2B) and I've never noticed the ceiling over the dance floor in Starlite!!

 

You are correct that Symphony appears to have had fewer updates, but it is true that more at been done to her toward the end of the Genting ownership. Wondering about carpets. I found some of the carpet selections on Serenity to be unfortunate. There were several places where it didn't flow from one design to the next. As others have said, we are just renting, not buying, so I try to ignore.

Pulse is still Pulse. It was the only room we never visited. 

 

Yes I answered a question on another board about Luxe. I thought maybe Jade for the former Jade Garden. 

 

In the end, there was only so many things they could do both in terms of cost and amount of time the ships wouldn't sail. In some cases more to come on both ships including placement of the casinos but I expect other things as time permits.

OMG Patty, I don’t know if I’ve ever been more jealous in my life!  😆 I can’t even imagine what the nirvana of sailing on Symphony without noticing it must be like. I think part of the problem is that it’s about at my eye level when I enter the room from the starboard side, which reminds me it’s still there, and then every 3 or 4 minutes my eyes go back to it because it’s like a train wreck that you just can’t turn away from.  (…Probably more the stained (from age and the smoking years lol) glass rim around the perimeter than the saucer in the middle, though each element gives the others a good run for their money.)

 

Now that it’s been called out, if you keep noticing it too, you’re welcome.  😆 

 

Yeah, the down side is that the carpets that were all replaced for 2021 were done by different designers than Symphony’s new areas, so we’ll probably have a bit of the same clash as Serenity.  OTOH, all of the new carpets installed for 2021, most of which are still there, are coordinated at least.

I love the name Jade for the night club, it just struck me as odd that if you were going to rename one of the two, even if they’re temporary, that Pulse wouldn’t be the one/first to go.  
 

I certainly understand the constraints of a refit, but at this point it almost seems like some kind of inside joke.  Countless management teams have now reviewed that same atrocity of a (third of a) ceiling, and thought, “oh, that’s good enough, we can leave that for sure.”  🤮  Taking function and wear out of the equation, that has to be the tackiest original design element Crystal ever selected — and it takes a lot to pass the 6 golden sculptures/sets.

 

Sorry for the rant…. My decades of hate for that ceiling grow with every passing refit.  LOL
