Last Minute offer for "free" cabins - $50 per person with $100 OBC

Hi All

 

I have been getting these offers for a while now but going on a last minute cruise has never been really possible for me.  Things have changed and now I can start going.  Yay!  Can anyone who also gets similar offers tell me about your experiences? 

 

I have read posts on social media saying if you book one of these there is a chance you get to the port and they do not have a room for you.  Is this possible?  This is definitely not a deal breaker but it may influence which ports I am willing to go to.   

 

Are upgrades ever available?  My offers are for an inside room.  I have never stayed in an inside before and would be fine with it but love my balcony.

 

When do you find out what cabin you have?  Some of these leave as soon as tomorrow.

 

Are there any pitfalls with these offers that would make you not recommend?  Thanks for any info!

Is this a casino offer. I'd call the casino if I wanted to upgrade. 

 

I sure wish I could see these offers. What's the code. Lol grab it.

 

I have not read of carnival overselling. Rcl did it a few times but they send out a offer that is usually tempting enough people will take it to change to another date. I say pick me, pick me. I want a free cruise. 

 

I think you shouldnt worry that booking last minute they would be overselling cabins on purpose. Sure some do cancel and maybe the formula was wrong but seems to be fixed.

@tmarquez I have booked a couple of those - no tricks and never had them canceled at port due to overbooking.

I have upgraded all of them as I didn't want to be inside. The cost to upgrade has been very reasonable but will depend on the itinerary, so it varies by offer. You should be able to see the upgrade cost when you get to the cabin selection point. You'll also know your cabin when you upgrade as you select it. Just call in if you aren't seeing your free offer at the start. They'll also help you do the entire booking if you don't want to try it on your own.

You can call the number listed on the offer or the regular Carnival number.

Yes, you can apply the offer to a higher category room and pay the difference if available.  Use a PVP to be sure you have a room.  I did see the incidence about being overbooked and I think there is way more to that story than like an plane being oversold.

We get these offers & book them.  We usually have to pay the port fees & taxes in addition to the $50 per person.  If you log into the CCL website, you can see different offers there too.  Your best bet is to call a PVP or TA with the appropriate rate code included in the email/offer. They can help you upgrade your cabin for an additional cost.  These offers are great, sometimes include free drinks while playing in casino.  GO! Have fun!
