kenzie Posted September 5, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2023 Itinerary - Puerto Plata, St Thomas, Tortola GSC. Any preference for Port side or Starboard as similar are available on both sides, I like to lookover Port when docking, the obvious answer "Port" does not always mean this. Thank you for any helpful responses.
Coastalbreezes Posted September 5, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2023 The way the ship docks in St. Thomas you will always face the port if you are in a starboard cabin. To my recollection you do not face the port in Tortola or PP from a starboard cabin but still have a nice view.
Rare wolft927 Posted September 5, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 5, 2023 I am on the same itinerary in January. 2 Bedroom Haven suite. we are on the Starboard side...
hallux Posted September 5, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 5, 2023 When I sailed that itinerary on that ship in March it was as follows - Puerto Plata: stern to the port, pier on the port side St. Thomas: Bow in, pier on the starboard side Tortola: stern in, pier on the port side Don't take this as gospel, they can dock on either side and can always change based on some technical need. They need to run lifeboats periodically, if they decide to run the port boats when in port in PP then they'll dock facing the other direction.
Karaboudjan Posted September 5, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 5, 2023 I'm not sure exactly what you mean by 'lookover Port' but in Puerto Plata and Tortola there was no real 'port' to speak of, so unless you hung your head down off of the balcony your view would be pretty comparable on each side. Unless, of course, there is another ship docked next to you...
Rare 1025cruise Posted September 5, 2023 #6 Share Posted September 5, 2023 Yes, I prefer a port or starboard side cabin.
Rare schmoopie17 Posted September 5, 2023 #7 Share Posted September 5, 2023 (edited) There are two ports in Puerto Plata. Might make a difference. We're trying to figure out which port they will be using for our upcoming cruise, since the itinerary only says "Puerto Plata". We have seen instances of NCL using both ports.
