Sun Queen II Posted September 5, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2023 Hi all, DH and I are going on a Canada New England cruise shortly and were wondering if the Sanctuary on Caribbean Princess will be open, despite the somewhat cooler weather. We are assuming the Sanctuary is somewhat quieter on these types of cruises if they are open and wondering how it works (e.g. if we book for a full day, and decide to leave for a couple of hours, can we return and finish the day there?) Also what about access to food. Is there a special menu for the Sanctuary or is it the ocean medallion menu? One last question regarding cooler sailing dates - Are the pools and bars still open on cooler days or are they closed? thanks in advance!
skynight Posted September 5, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2023 Some info. All the pools and bars remain open as normal. If you encounter rough seas the Captain may close off the pools for safety reasons. It probably will be cooler. It was when we sailed this itinerary a few years ago. Not many really sit around the pools as they do in the Caribbean. Bring a light jacket if you wish to hang outside on deck. If you purchase full or half day(s) sanctuary use you select an assigned chair. You are free to come and go during your purchased time. Your chair will be there.
Captain k Posted September 5, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 5, 2023 Unfortunately, on our Canada/New England cruise there were a number of bars closed on deck. More specially, the retreat bar and the wakeview bar were closed Quite a bit. We thought it had something to do with local laws when in port? Sun Queen II Posted September 6, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted September 6, 2023 Oh that’s unfortunate. When did you cruise? We’re heading out this weekend so we’re hoping the weather is still warm enough that we will be able to enjoy all of the amenities.
Treasure Hunter Posted September 6, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2023 We leave on Saturday on the New England/Canada cruise on Emerald Princess. It is 91 degrees in New York. More concerned with rain. The spa menu in the Sanctuary is great and we’ve also ordered hamburgers, hotdogs and pizza from the pool grill in the past. The best is the 3:30 English tea that they served. Hope that still exists.😄
JoRoy218 Posted September 6, 2023 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2023 We were on the Emerald in June, spent an afternoon in the Sanctuary. Yes, teatime still exists. Love it! So much food to choose from. My favorite is the orange scones, complete with jam and cream.

Sun Queen II Posted September 6, 2023 Author #9 Share Posted September 6, 2023 Thanks so much for the input. We’re leaving Saturday from Quebec on CB and while it’s certainly warm here in Canada this week (high 80s) next week the east coast looks like a lot of rain, so perhaps there will be no sanctuary 😞
LeeW Posted September 6, 2023 #10 Share Posted September 6, 2023 Had 40 mph winds on bow and driving rain (couldn't see the front flag staff on ship) and we were up there on Caribbean. Fully booked but we were only customers present and crew was huddled in their service room. Finally rain got so loud we gave up. On Sky last week in Norway the Sanctuary had little use. Too chilly and rainy.

Suite Susie Posted September 7, 2023 #13 Share Posted September 7, 2023 Thinking of booking a Cabana and would like to know if anyone has a copy of the menu for the included wine / liquor.
