OBSERVATIONS FROM THE POOP DECK SEASCAPE SEPT 24, 2023

It is 5:30 am and these short videos and photos are being allowed to upload. Here is 20 second of Bella, resident songstress in Le Cabaret Rouge. She is getting better having selected more popular songs to sing than last month. A couple got up to dance that 'stole the show' with their dance routine. They were better than the other acts in the show. Le Cabaret Rouge was packed last night. Standing room only.

Another 26 second video of a Bella number. She comes back on later, but we opted for just one hour of Le Cabaret Rouge from 8 to 9 pm and went to get good seats in the Chora Theatre for "Premiere". What is nice about being in the Yacht Club besides the YC reserved section is that the guard at the Chora Theatre door allows YC guests into the theatre keeping others out  before opening time. It is akin to being a "Pinnacle" and butting to the front of every line on RCCL.

May I suggest "The Rockford Files" reruns.

Sorry, Morph, I don't understand what this means. Can you elaborate a bit?

I miss out a lot on jokes in English.

Been scratching my head to the meaning and to that of Jagr's allusion to Columbo.

I love your posts and all the explanations about the ship.

In general terms, these were television detective shows from the 70s. Jim Rockford was a private detective. Lt. Frank Columbo was a police homicide detective.

This 19 second video took 4 minutes to upload just before midnight. I tried before at 11;30 and it failed. It reflects my multi daily approach to use the over ride function of the elevator key pad.

Have you said anything to the YC Concierge about your key not working?

My reference to "The Rockford Files" was to watch the reruns as a training tool to learn how to get information out of an 'asset' by bribing them. Sometimes it is just better to use allegory and innuendo to get across an idea to too sensitive and delicate readers, that get too 'bent out of shape' reading my posts and complain and have them 'flagged'.

Sorry for the confusion!  A dated reference, I guess.  "Columbo" isn't the typical detective whodunit TV show. On most detective shows, viewers don't know who committed the crime until the detective pieces the clues together and figures it out. On this show, however, viewers see the crime unfold at the beginning of most episodes, including who the perpetrator is. The mystery and fun for viewers is trying to spot the clues that will lead Lt. Columbo (Peter Falk) to discover the culprit and watching the tricks he uses to get a confession. He employs humble ways and ingenuous demeanor to winkle out even the most well-concealed of crimes.

As for Columbo, he never needed to 'grease any palms' to get any information. Columbo always was able to deduce the solution with mental agility, like Sherlock Holmes. Regular 'gumshoes' like myself must resort to more 'shady' practices.

Now, I understand. Thank you

Both were television shows procedural detective shows (70s and for Columbo there were also specials up through 2003

Rockford Files (he greased a lot of palms to get information)

Jim Rockford is an ex-con and private detective. He was falsely convicted of a crime he didn't commit, but that doesn't stop him from using his ex-con buddies to help him solve crimes. Nothing comes easy for Rockford, but he works hard and usually gets shot at or beat up at least once per episode.

Columbo

Have you heard any reports of when the damaged glass will ne replaced do the infinity nrigldhe starboard side can be reopened?

I asked several crew working out on deck this morning about when the Infinity bridge would be fixed. They had no idea. Then I stopped a gentleman in a white jump suit the same question. His answer got us one step closer to the 'why' no repair but still no 'when'.

It appears that the ship is waiting for shoreside technicians from the warrantee company to do the repairs. The glass panels are under this warrantee, and the ship technicians can not touch them for fear of voiding the warrantee.

I just know that this next story is going to 'warm the cockles of your hearts'. Chitchatting with the parties involved. We heard the tale of a YC couple that tried to get their friends (who do not reside in the YC) to join them for our Gala lobster dinner in the YC Restaurant last night. First and most audacious infraction is they snuck their friends in one of the decks that does not pass the concierge station (18 or 19) and at 9:20 pm, 10 minutes before closing time 9:30 pm. They were refused seating and graciously suggested the Market Place buffet. A scene was made and they were directed to see the concierge. The concierge also refused the dinner party. Things are tightening up?

Why on earth would someone decide to "make a scene" when they are clearly way out of bounds?

The sense of entitlement that some people have never ceases to amaze me.

I'm very happy to hear that staff did what was clearly the right thing. Gives me hope!!

Because this knucklehead bragged about hooking-up his non-YC friends with a swanky dinner, but he had egg on his face.

What a great story!

Music to my ears!

Who spotted the undesirables first? Was a penalty imposed?

Let’s hope this type of vigilance continues. 🙂

It is simply to d@mn hot . in the Caribbean. We were able to enjoy the OnePool deck only until noon. Then had to retreat for the airconditioned comfort of the interior of the ship and cabin. Returning guests from their day in Ochos Rios made getting an elevator impossible. Went to the concierge, as suggested, to tell him our elevator  over ride key cards did not work. He made me a nice  'dog and pony show' effort. He got out a "new" batch of key cards and escorted me out of the YC to the elevators to test out the "new" batch. To no avail. He got the same response I got in my video. from the elevator key pads. He said he would look into it.

Oh, I get that part. To be sure. My question remains. What purpose is to be served by exacerbating the situation and only pouring more "egg" on the fire and onto the face of this louse.

There comes a time when retreat is the best option and as in this case, the only option.
