Price Drop after Final Payment & OBC types

Have not prepaid the DSC yet. We booked thru CAS. Cruise is in December for an Oceanview but now the Club Balcony is lower than what we paid for Oceanview.

Can we apply the extra $ towards the DSC if we stay in the same category?

If we upgrade to Club Balcony then I know the policy is u can only upgrade if it is at least $1 more than the original cost. I remember seeing a old post where a person added a wifi package to bring their total $ over and it worked in upgrading. Does this still work or does it have to be a cabin only cost being higher than at least $1 now? If this still works with adding any options then I was thinking of adding specialty dining package or extra OBC instead of wifi because thanks to T-Mobile's free international data, we can just use T-Mobile data while at ports.

And if we add extra OBC, is this type of purchased OBC usable at the casino?

We are also gonna have the shareholder OBC which I think is the kind that's not useable at the casino?

Sorries, this is our 1st time on NCL 😊

It is my understanding that after final payment in order to upgrade it is the cabin cost…not any of the additional add-ons.  Is there a spa club balcony available that could be an upgrade consideration.

if you stay in your OV cabin you get no OBC for the price drop.  Since you booked through CAS, I don’t know if your fare would qualify for a FCC for price difference of OV price. You should check with CAS.

if you add OBC to your account it is refundable.

I booked my cruise in May through CAS and when the price dropped (after final payment) Irequested and was issued a 500$ future cruise credit which was valid from my disembarkation date for 12 months. I had to book and sail within that 12 month period. The credit was only applicable to the cruise fare, it could not be used for gratuities or taxes.

If you purchase obc you can use that to pay the dsc but you can't use your shareholders obc for that.

I don't know if you can use purchased obc in the casino I'm afraid.

For CAS, can you tell me if your original cabin was just discounted by CAS, or fully comped?

(I've gotten different answers about price drops with CAS)

Not the OP, but on our December 1 TA booked through CAS, we were able to reprice it twice before final payment.  My rep told me they would give is a one time credit after final payment for any additional drops, in the form of a future cruise credit, not OBC.  I watched it, and it did drop again by about $400.  But the gambler in me said to “let it ride” a little longer, thinking it would continue to drop.  It didn’t.  I missed the sweet spot and the cabin is now sold out, so no more credits.

I’ve never heard of OBC being given for price drops.  At most it’s a FCC that will appear in your account after you complete the cruise.

Edited to add that this particular cruise was neither a comp or a discount.  CAS would have given us a discount on any cabin we wanted except for a Haven cabin.  For this trip we really wanted the Haven and booked it outright through CAS.

Forgot to update this in case anyone else has a similar question in the future with CAS.

We were able to upgrade thru CAS without any additional $ but I think in our case it wasn't the typical kind of upgrade.

Our original OV cabin was discounted.

When the price dropped after Final Payment, the discount that was applied to the OV cabin was more than the Club Balcony cost without any discount at the new dropped rate.
