Trends in Cigar Consumption and Smoking Prevalence
Over this 6-year interval, cigar smoking increased among both males and females (Table 4). The rates of cigar smoking increased among males of each race, but the increase was greatest among white and black males. Current cigar smoking prevalence remained unchanged among males with less than a high school education.
Regardless. The world is not always about charts and graphs. If luxury cars took a downward sales trend in X time period, it does not mean that it's no longer a viable market. As with anything, you size your offering in relationship to its demand.

Cigars are associated with a "premium" lifestyle of sorts. I find it hard to believe that Carnival couldn't make a few hundred or even few thousand per cruise on some whiskey and cigar pairings. Or even at the minimum, have an outdoor bar near the smoking area with a humidor and cigars for sale.

Those who are posting that it's on the decline are wrong

I have no reason to doubt that statement, nor do I really care. But so far the best evidence I've seen in this thread to support your statement is a study that was apparently done in 1997. Maybe some data from this millennium would help.

In the meantime I remain happy that Carnival does not allow cigar smoking in their ships, and hope they ban ALL indoor smoking in the future.

Don't get me wrong..... I smoke cigars, but I'm ok with carnival not having cigar lounges.  I was simply pointing out that the post saying it's on the decline is wrong.  It may be an old report posted earlier, but you can definitely find newer reports.  And there are no reports of the so called decline

You could double the number of cigar smokers and it would still be less than 10% of the population. Smoking in general is on the decline.

I would say that both of your statements are true but that has nothing to do with the current discussion.  To say that smoking cigars is on the decline is false

Whether increasing or decreasing or going sideways is irrelevant to whether cigar lounges exist on Carnival. They don't.

Lol.... I believe that should be directed to the one that changed the topic to increasing decreasing or sideways.  We got a simple no in the beginning of the thread.  And you decided to join that sub-discussion two posts ago.

I doubt we'll see Carnival invest in this area, it would not be great PR for a "family friendly" cruise line.

I don't think this makes any sense. Carnival already has a smoking area, cigarettes and cigars in the shop, and a casino you can smoke in. They sell alcohol and big alcohol packages.

But the thought of a secluded venue that specializes in cigars? (clutches pearls). I'll take my family to a safer place!

The allure of the family friendly cruise is having options for the whole family. Nothing would be removed from children here. However, dad could have a new spot to enjoy himself.

I do not work for or represent Carnival in any capacity. I am just saying I don't think the optics of adding options for smokers makes sense in 2023. Agree or disagree, life goes on.
