Back on board from a long hot steamy walk in Key West. We ended up going all the way to the southern most point and back with a few stops on the way. I'm going to put my stuff away and go find somewhere besides my cabin to write...

Okay, I'm back again after going back outside into Key West by myself to do a couple more things while we're here... But, going all the way back to when we first went out earlier. We started up at the end nearest the ship, and eventually made our way all the way down Duval Street to the southern most point and beyond. The wild chickens were running around in the streets...

We originally talked about going up to the Garden of Eden on top of the Bull and Whistle Bar, but it wasn't open yet that early. We continued down Duval Street...

We popped into an art gallery that had tons of unique pieces, and they didn't mind me taking pictures, so I just snapped away... The galleries in Atlanta would never let you take photos...

Next, another little gallery that had mostly musical artists.

And then an antique shop that had tons of huge bronze states and other cool stuff, including real Dale Chihuly chandeliers...

And then we just kept going south on Duval until we reached the ocean, and our stop for lunch and a couple of drinks. The Seaside Cafe next to this old Victorian hotel had some lobster biscuits I've had my eye on for a bit, so I knew I had to get some. They claimed to also have a great margarita, so I did one of those too.

The lobster biscuits turned out to be great, and the margarita was easily better than anything I've had on the ship so far, so I'll call it a success. I needed to use the restroom, so I walked around the building and down a skinny alleyway that someone "of considerable size" would've never gotten through...

JinxyB wanted to get her picture down at the southern most point, so I went down there with her to wait in line for that. I can't believe people wait in a line for twenty or thirty minutes to take a picture by a piece of concrete, but when in Rome...

And then we started making our way back up Duval towards town. Popped into another little shop and picked up a t shirt...

Now we were back almost to the ship, so I went in a little cigar shop and picked up a box to bring back home. Not Cubans, but hopefully something nice to smoke...

And that's when we got back on the ship for the first time. JinxyB had some stuff she wanted to do, so I headed back out on my own. I didn't come all the way to Key West to NOT eat some key lime pie, so...

I love walking Duval Street. So many interesting things to see (and eat and drink!). I wonder if this sign is still in the window at Ben & Jerry's:

Since it wasn't too far, I also went over to the Bull and Whistle Bar, and visited the Garden of Eden clothing optional top deck, just to say I did it. No, I didn't drop trow and join the other nudists... There's no cell phones allowed up there, so I just threw mine in the bottom of my beach bag and entered. I didn't want to just be some kind of creepy voyeur, so I did sit down at the bar and order a couple of beers. About three tenths of a second after my backside hit the barstool I considered exactly what kinds of things this barstool has likely been through... It was too late at that point, so...

We'll just say that most of the people up there aren't the type of people you'd want to see naked... A few seventy something year old men letting it all hang out, as well as several topless women, none of which I would really WANT to see naked... Anyhoo, I can say that I've been there now. 

 

It's almost 4:00, and dinner at Extra Virgin is at 7:00, so I might take another shower before then...

Key West is certainly unique!  Everyone must experience the Garden of Eden once.  Once is really all you need.  Unless you are one of clothing optional people.  🤣
