Civitavecchia Cruise Terminal - Embarkation

We are sailing on Oceania Vista 09/13/24.   How difficult is it to get through Civitavecchia to cruise ship?  Is there a lot of walking, long lines and waiting to get through terminal to cruise ship.  Sailed from Vancouver May of this year and to say it was a nightmare is an understatement.  Will never sail from Vancouver again.

It is nothing like Vancouver,  if for no other reason that you won't be going through Immigration and Customs procedures as you board, and each ship has its own terminal. 

 

Plus, the individual terminals are pretty small and simple.

After also experiencing embarking in Vancouver in June (and I agree, never again) you will be pleased that Civitavecchia is nothing like Vancouver. Last year I arrived at the terminal, my luggage was taken immediately, I walked up to a representative who had to check my documents and I was on the ship in five minutes.

How are you arriving to the port?  If by train, you can take the bus right to your ship.

Then you'll have absolutely no problems!  Car will drive you right to door, drop of bags, minimal security check, and right to check in.

Haha I didn’t mind Vancouver. No porter stuck their hand out, there was no lineups when I was there, everyone was really friendly and smiling. Ok this was fall 2022 and I will say I got a workout walking through the terminal but I like a random workout. If you want a tiny and easy terminal Seward AK is fabulous. Civi I’ll be finding out first hand in just over a week how I like it. Keep in mind I’m younger than most cruisers and have no issue hauling my luggage anywhere it needs to go.
