Rare insidecabin Posted November 10, 2023 #51 Share Posted November 10, 2023 Thanks for reporting, we did a couple on Virtuosa in the Jan-March window, cold and snow. These first sailings of the winter season look better.

Cabin - lovely, has everything you need for a great holiday. More wardrobe space that other ships but a little less drawer space. The toiletries are in big bottles on the wall and include shampoo, body wash and balm, soap etc. there is a vanity kit and shower cap. There is no bath which again is unusual for a suite but a nice walk in shower. Suites on MSC (or at least the balcony one we are in are in) are not as large or plush as on other ships but the other YC areas more than make up for this. Service - excellent from being escorted onboard through dining, drinks service etc. . We didn’t venture downstairs other than for entertainment. While there is a YC seating area some of the guests simply ignored this and barged in anyway, sometimes half way through the show. This issue has been raised by several guests onboard at the moment. As one YC guest pointed out you couldn’t just sit in a business class seat on a plane so why think you can on a cruise. Entertainment - For me the theatre entertainment was a very mixed bag with some I enjoyed at other bits not so much but that’s down to personal taste. The big band in the aft lounge is apparently very good but you have to get there early to get a seat (walking through the smelly casino or circumventing by going outside). The musicians in the YC area were good imo. The selection of included wine is fine and if you ask they also have some other alternatives if there is nothing to your taste but the choice is perfectly sufficient for most folks. Was there a sommelier in Yacht club? We were ‘between sommeliers’ when on Virtuosa and missed their advice and input! I’d love it if there’s going to be one on Euribia! Also, thanks for the daily planners, I notice one of our fave musicians Roberto is playing in Master if the Seas pub. Did you get to see him? He has such a powerful voice. Yes there was and she floated around the tables offering assistance but to be honest the waiters were very helpful also. No we didn’t see the singer in MofS

It was actually sunny in Brugge. By the way the shuttle bus outside the port gates (Zebrugge) was not there this week, I made a point on looking for it while on the ships shuttle. Wasn’t there in January either so it is perhaps just in high season or they don’t do in on school holidays etc?

mtlchris Posted November 11, 2023 #58 Share Posted November 11, 2023 Doing the same cruise a few weeks as a last minute thing (booked today). If there a 24h/one day wifi option available on board , or is it all package based ? Have you visited the spa / thermal area ?

Sorry we had WiFi for the week included so don’t know if they do daily pricing. There was free wifi at the ports, the staff were using it. No we didn’t visit the spa. Have a lovely cruise.

We were in Zeebrugge last year with no school holidays ongoing and the shuttles were also not running. Clear case of sometimes yes, sometimes no. Anyway the much cheaper public transport is always available.
lostinespace Posted November 14, 2023 #61 Share Posted November 14, 2023 On the second attempt I have now obtained YC upgrade for £870 for our cruise on the 24 Nov. Plus the £670 each that is about £1100 each, deluxe junior suite. The tripadivisor reviews are not great but I hope the ship isn't full as we are just before the ship gets decorated for Christmas. Will report back wehn we get onboard. At least we can get onboard at 10am rather than 5pm as we are YC now.

Stocksy82 Posted November 15, 2023 #67 Share Posted November 15, 2023 We watched that a couple of days ago and the whole video felt like they were trying to find a fault with every part of the holiday. Nothing balanced and also heavily weighted towards their experience as a vegetarian. Guess we will see for ourselves in 9 days time!

Personally, I wouldn't book YC as I know I wouldn't take full advantage of what it offers, and am teetotal. I disembarked Eurbia four weeks ago, and whilst I much prefer Virtuosa, I had a good week away, back in my favourite port of Rotterdam and exploring MSC's newest ship. I am also pescatarian, and can honestly say I've never experienced a lack of choice dilemma on either ship - including in Hola!, where they were more than accommodating. Rare Eglesbrech Posted November 15, 2023 Author #70 Share Posted November 15, 2023 I don’t recognise their description of the ship. While I prefer Virtuosa to Euribia we still had a really nice holiday. We had great service from very friendly staff. They checked we enjoyed what we had and replaced it quickly if we didn’t. If anything drinks were filled too quickly, wine was constantly replenished at the dining table, water etc. Afternoon tea in YC was available every day of our cruise (we didn’t have it every day but it was laid out in half of the venue). We had a large fruit bowl in the cabin on day one, the bottle of whisky we had ordered and little treats every evening. I’m not vegetarian so may have missed the issues re that situation but the choice of food was good. Several times I asked for a smaller portion of a main for a starter or indeed a larger version of a starter salad for a main and this was never an issue. I don’t recall ever hearing “ no” to any reasonable request we made.

It leaves at 8.45 for 6 hours (including transfer times) for 49 euros pp. This may be specific to this cruise as others have mentioned it was not offered to them. It was advertised in the daily programme last night. That’s very expensive. We were in Zeebrugge on a Princess ship in June. There is a local shuttle at the port gate. It runs every 30 minutes throughout the day for €20 pp return.
LondonTowner Posted November 18, 2023 #75 Share Posted November 18, 2023 My partner and I are on the 24/11 sailing too. We have a balcony, midship cabin on deck 13. Weve been to all the ports before except Rotterdam. we got a good deal including drinks package. We’ve done about 17 cruises with many different cruise lines. This is our first time with MSC. I’ve heard varying reports, so will make up our own minds. The comments I’ve just read were helpful.
