DaveOKC Posted November 11, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2023 Pros and cons please on this cabin. Also, how "bumpy" will the ride be in open waters?
sciencewonk Posted November 11, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2023 I have not been on Rotterdam, however, I have been in an aft cabin (on Noordam). It was not any more bumpy than other parts of the ship. My wife, who gets motion sickness, had no problems with the cabin, while on Dramamine. We absolutely loved the cabin. My only complaint is that we were on the 6th floor directly below the smoking area on the Lido Deck and we got the occasional smell of cigarette smoke on our balcony and in our cabin. It never lasted more than 5 or 10 minutes.
CruiserBruce Posted November 12, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 12, 2023 Have been in aft wraps on several ships, and on all but 8th deck on the Pinnacle class. Movement was a pretty minor issue in the open Atlantic. The size variations can be fairly serious. Deck 4 and 7 are the largest cabins and balconies, in that order. Deck 6 and 5 are pretty small cabins (for Neptunes), particularly if splitting the bed. The balcony size is fine. I would not book Deck 5 or 6 aft wraps. There have been many discussions on people's opinions of the aft wraps. 3
Rare cbr663 Posted November 12, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 12, 2023 Here's a video of a Deck 5 Aft Neptune Suite on the Koningsdam and I was shocked at how much smaller it is than the Neptune Suite (Deck 7 mid ship) we had on our Alaska cruise. alwaysfrantic Posted November 12, 2023 #5 Share Posted November 12, 2023 Best rooms on the ship. We have had one on several ships, multiple times. Next up is NS. We likely wouldn’t have booked had one not been available. They are that good.
forwardho Posted November 12, 2023 #6 Share Posted November 12, 2023 We had a Neptune aft on the Nieuw Statendam. Our cruise was the Midnight Sun in Norway. There were two days in the North Sea that were extremely rocky and bouncy. One night bed lower drawers would roll out and back in so we put the coffee table against them. Overall, we love aft cabins but not in the North Sea.
Laminator Posted November 12, 2023 #7 Share Posted November 12, 2023 Just got off the Rotterdam. Aft wrap 4209. No issues at all. As previously stated deck 4 and 8 are the decks to be.
chill6x6 Posted November 21, 2023 #8 Share Posted November 21, 2023 From the pictures/videos I've seen it looks as if the aft-corner Neptune suites have a much smaller sofa-ette rather than the normal sofa that is in the deck 7 mid-ship NS. Is that true?
kirkc Posted November 21, 2023 #9 Share Posted November 21, 2023 Yes.
