FYI, and I'm not even joking, they have decided that the term Civil War is somehow offensive to some people...

I have lived in Oregon for over 64 years now and grew up with the Civil War and I will continue to call it that!!

The new PC term is Rivalry Game...don't want to turn your most excellent review into a political discussion but seriously?

see, that’s not even political to me. That’s just proper b*****n’! I’m from Dallas, and I still call it the Red River Shootout… not because I’m trying to make some political statement, far far far from it… because it sounds cooler and I’m used to it. “Red River Rivalry” is generic and hard to say. Has that “Rural Juror” cadence to it. 
 

Ducks looked great. I thought that game would be a lot closer. Looks like it’ll all come down to the Pac12 Championship game.

Didn’t get the free room on board - I didn’t win enough to play enough - but hey, it’s more freeplay than I’ve ever gotten anywhere ever, so no complaints. Maybe I get lucky and some freebies pop up in a month or so like they do with Carnival. Had fun either way.

Heads up to anyone trying to take advantage of these paper casino offers: it takes Princess way longer to upload these than the "10 or more days" they print.  For my mid-June 2023 paper offer, it wasn't uploaded until mid-August!   Anyway, it's a big challenge if you want to actually use it within the tight time frame they have for bookings...in your case, it expires January 20, 2024!

good point! I probably wouldn’t use just this offer with the free play to book anything that soon. If an amazing deal falls in my lap for next summer, sure, absolutely; but I doubt this free play deal would be combinable with a deal like that. We’ll see what prices look like in a month or so.

Is there any chance of a game being shown if it isn’t on the schedule? Example: if a venue has multiple tvs is it possible to have on more than one game? 
And for those that stream, is there a location that tends to have better reception?

yeah, actually the casino bar has had a lot of games that weren’t mentioned on the schedule. They only have two TVs in there, but they’ve always had something going. NFL, CFB, NBA. NHL… I’ve seen all of them in there. 
 

Club 6 is the other spot you’ll get some outliers, and they have a ton of TVs, but the one at the bar just shows Princess ads rotating and usually two or three out in the club space are off or say no signal. Plus they actually schedule games in there on the Patter, so the only time I’ve seen “off” games is a random time nothing else is happening. 
 

streaming is tough. Internet has been MOSTLY good enough to do it, not as fast as Starlink on Carnival Pride or Mardi Gras, but faster than older Carnival ships. My issue has been that YouTubeTV, where I do most of my streaming, has been completely blocked the whole cruise because I’m in another country. That’s never happened before on any cruise for me.

next pet peeve: Bowl Games that have replaced their traditional or geographic name with a Corporate name:

Duluth Trading Cure Bowl:

LendingTree Bowl:

Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl

Quick Lane Bowl:

Guaranteed Rate Bowl:

Cheez-It Bowl:

 

I have no idea what these bowls are.

Can we just return the Rose,Orange, Cotton, Sugar Bowls etc and cut the corporate nonsense

yeah, but it’s also given us gems like the Poulan Weedeater Bowl, the prestigious Beef O’ Brady’s Bowl, and of course the Duke’s Mayo dump

This will be Sling for ESPN. I am hoping for the best. My eyes really prefer a larger screen than my phone!
