dianeh Posted November 14, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2023 Most tours begin early but we don't dock until 8 am. Is there any shortened version of seeing the 12 Apostles? Thank you.
Rare cruiser3775 Posted November 14, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2023 The 12 Apostles are nowhere near Melbourne. They are on the Great Ocean Road, about 280 Kilometres from Melbourne. It's a long, slow and winding drive. That's why the tours start early and return late.
Hogbay Posted November 14, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2023 Yep 4 hours + one way . Try a helicopter 🚁 tour .
Rare MicCanberra Posted November 15, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 15, 2023 Unless the ship offers the tour, or the ship is overnighting in Melbourne, then I don't think it will be possible to see them.
possum52 Posted November 15, 2023 #5 Share Posted November 15, 2023 The quickest route is still nearly three hours each way - not using the Great Ocean Road but the Prince's Highway and cutting down from Pirron Yallock through Simpson to the Twelve Apostles. But you would miss the wonderful scenery and drive of the Great Ocean Road. As others have said, unless you are in Melbourne overnight, or here for an evening departure, the Twelve Apostles are not really doable unless as Hogbay suggested you do a helicopter flight from Melbourne which is quite expensive.
