added gratuities for online purchases

Just purchased a 3x class pass for the gym and a shore excursion online for my upcoming cruise.

Kayak Adventure Guests   Day Day 3 - Orlando (port Canaveral), Fl Time 01:00 PM $54.99 Class Pass X 3 Guests   Day Day 1 - Baltimore, Maryland Time 12:00 PM $39.00

Order summary Subtotal $93.99 Gratuities $7.80 Order total $101.79

 

Who do these gratuities go to? I'm used to the added gratuities for spa services and specialty dining but not this. Just wondering.

Spa gratuitous go to the spa staff. None were charged for the excursion. 7.80 is 20% of $39

They add gratuity on everything now. I purchased some Evian water bottle package for our upcoming cruise and had to pay gratuity on that too😏

Probably because I have yet to see a staff member on 8 different RCI ships this year that knows anything about pickleball, other than setting up the nets. You would be a lot better off watching pickleball videos on YouTube, especially if you are new to the game.

for the water think of like a delivery charge. i noticed other cruise lines have some kind of delivery fee/surcharge for items that get delivered to your room

Our soda package purchases are also charged gratuities.  I hope it pays the folks to keep the machines stocked/working.  If we use the bar or waiter to for a soda, we usually give them a buck tip.
