As Aus Traveller says, plus usually a boat making competition where you have to scrounge parts around the ship and sail it around the pool with six cans of beer as cargo, plus egg drops, and paper planes competitions to launch from top of atrium and land in a designated area at the bottom.

Also regular bean bag toss, putt putt golf competitions, all take place in the atrium.

All these things have an enthusiastic following as well. their a lot of fun even just to watch.

Usually there are art and craft classes run as well.

On longer cruises people tend to become more of a community, than on the shorter cruises.

Never once felt bored on a long cruise.

If there is an active CC group on board, they are usually organising events as well.

Regards

Hi, we did a 76 night South America cruise with a string of 7 sea days on the homeward leg. I thought I'd get bored but was surprised at how the days filled themselves. For something to do, we went as observers to the egg drop and paper plane competitions and enjoyed them, cheering along the contestants. We also went to all the port lectures and picked up some tips. We'd go to the art auctions for the free miniscule glass of cheap bubbles, each time enjoying seeing who was buying what but wondering why we bothered just for the free booze! Ditto the Effy promotions.  We even sat in on a snake oil salesman pitch!

I visited the library and discovered new authors I'd not read before - I even read my first, and definitely my last, Jackie Collins novel.

We'd go to trivia with a group, just for interest and the challenge, and although we sometimes "won", would keep it to ourselves - didn't want a medal or ship on a stick.

We'd also go for a swim every day and found the pool very social, making friends with people who tended to swim at the same time as us.

We'd eat relatively modestly most of the cruise but on the last few days we'd go to morning tea, afternoon tea and anything edible on offer.

We always enjoyed the ice carving too.

We book a balcony cabin and enjoy just sitting out there watching the water go by and spotting wildlife.

You might surprise yourself if you make the effort to go and see what's on offer 😊

Yes it can be surprising how sea days can blur, we've done  2 or 3, 7 sea dayers, the last one from Port Louis, Mauritius to Perth, and did almost all the same things.

If you get involved the days do seem shorter.

I guess I'm just a cruise junky, can't get enough of them.

Guess I just got to win a few million, to sustain my addiction.🤣

When we did the Princess Hawaii/Tahiti cruise in 2019 I was a bit concerned about the sections of 4 or 5 sea days in a row. But at the end of the first 5 day section I actually found myself feeling a tad disappointed that the next day was a port day! It disrupted our new routine! 🤣

Another thing we would do after seeing the shows on Princess was to stick our heads in the casino and watch the roulette players. I'd love to play roulette but would hate losing more, so I watch only. On one cruise a very personable and pleasant Aussie born guy we nicknamed Chinaman would play every night, sometimes winning  sometimes losing.  Being careful with money ourselves, it never ceased to amaze us the number of AUD100 notes that would disappear into a slot in the table in exchange for chips.  He always attracted a crowd of watchers. One day, his wife who always sat on a stool to watch him play, was told the stools were only for players and she must stand. That was the end of his play, we never saw him there again and no doubt the cruise lost revenue from him.

Another time, to my horror, a man who played every night and would obviously have had too much to drink, was allowed to continue playing, until his wife dragged him away.

Interesting people watching 😄

Thanks for your input. We have actually done many longer cruises with sometimes 6 or 7 sea days but this was before Covid. I just don’t feel there are that many things to do since the restart of cruising……I could be wrong too! Maybe we have just done most of them over the years.

Anyway we have decided to stick to our cruise and make the most of it, we will just have to push each other out of comfort zone each day!

Everyones advice has been appreciated.

If you have a drinks package, there is always something to do, even if it is people watching.
