cheeruson Posted January 4 #1 Share Posted January 4 For those who have done this trip, comments, please, on which of the months still available for 2024 (June, Aug, and Sep) would have the best weather and best chance to make most of the port stops?

I can only speak to the East Coast of Canada. August and September is really wonderful. There have been 2 or 3 years over many years where we have had to go inland to escape a hurricane. But that is definitely our favourite time of year on the East Coast. Enjoy!

Early is more likely to have iceberg issues like we had last June on this itinerary. So I would opt for August or September.
deec Posted January 4 #4 Share Posted January 4 Begen to NYC...the latest we could go was late June in 2025. 2024 had some later dates.
janetcbl Posted January 4 #5 Share Posted January 4 Historically I believe the North Sea tends to be more problematic in Fall, often due to hurricanes. Icebergs can be a problem in late Spring.Crowds anre much larger during the summer months in these areas. Answer: Who knows? No one can really predict, you just go when you can.
pavementends Posted January 5 #6 Share Posted January 5 I would choose August (because it's warmER and the day is longer) or September (because there will be fewer crowds in places that have crowds).

Mich3554 Posted January 5 #8 Share Posted January 5 We missed all the ports in Greenland due to ice in June. However, the weather in Iceland and Canada was spectacular. It was weird that we were there.while there was almost 24 hours of daylight, but despite losing several ports, it was a fantastic trip.

Lizofwisconsin Posted January 5 #10 Share Posted January 5 Any disadvantages to September other than shorter days and puffins are gone?

Lee did a number on the east coast in Sept/23 if you recall. That said, there's always a storm somewhere! 🍺🥌 1

The mountain pass required to navigate for all excursions (Viking and 3rd party) had to be cancelled because the busses couldn’t get thru. We had a nice walk around town in the sleet, snack and coffee in a cafe, and back to the ship that day. You just never know with the weather.
Geoffa30 Posted January 6 #13 Share Posted January 6 We were on the 31 August sailing last year. It was a great cruise as managed to get into Greenland. However, I wish we had sailed one of the earlier August cruises as it was freezing and wet by the time we reached Iceland.
