MarEll1 Posted January 6 #1 Share Posted January 6 We are looking at several March 2024 sailings and the price for a suite guarantee is substantially less than that of a sky suite. I’m trying to figure out the downside of a guaranteed suite on either ship. On S class I’d be concerned about location due to noise from the OVC, but that’s not an issue here. Anyone able to confirm my thoughts here ( or point out where I’m incorrect)? Thanks!
Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted January 7 #2 Share Posted January 7 We booked a suite guarantee on Ascent and we were assigned an S1, mid-ship on deck 10. We were very pleased with the assignment. I guess a downside could be the same for any room guarantee category and that would be the risk of getting the least desirable room location. For some, that would include a magic carpet assignment (which we expected). However, we would have been happy with a MC room. They are very spacious both in room area and in balcony. There is one SS location that I think would have been unsuitable and that’s the suite on each deck that shares a wall with the end rooms of the MC. I say this bc their balcony is recessed while the MC balcony protrudes. This blocks the view of one side….going from a typical 180 degree view to 90 degrees.

MarEll1 Posted January 7 Author #4 Share Posted January 7 Thank you both @Georgia_Peaches and @Ex-Airbalancerfor your replies. I had figured a Magic Carpet suite could be considered undesirable, but wasn’t worried about that. Hadn’t realized there’s a sky suite next to them. Probably still worth the risk for the lower fare. paulh84 Posted January 7 #5 Share Posted January 7 Apex doesn't have a suite directly next to the Magic Carpet suites. Deck 9 and 10 have two cabins separating the MC suites from the S1's which would lessen the obstruction some. On Ascent the S1 is directly next to the Magic Carpet.
MarEll1 Posted January 7 Author #6 Share Posted January 7 @paulh84Thank you! We are leaning towards Apex as we like that itinerary a bit better so that’s great info.

I watched our ship like a hawk (Ascent). Those Sky Suites next to the MC were this last to fill. I assume they went to Suite Guarantee or Move Up. They filled when MU's went out.
