I'm back on board now from my first little foray into Old San Juan... Some of the places I want to go don't even open till later, and I've already walked five or six miles already. At first I was trying to navigate with my map, but then I just started wandering. It's hard to have a real adventure if you're head is buried in a map. Pretty hard to get lost here if you have any sense of direction.

My goal is to someday have one of these beautiful blue bricks that make up many of the streets here. I just kept going off in random directions and taking in the scenery. The streets are incredibly crowded, and I come from the city, so I know crowded. If course most of these people also don't have any idea where they're going, so it's a bit frustrating at times.

I wanted to try and get something local to eat, so I stopped by this tiny place called Birra and Empanada for one chicken and one beef empanada. It's for sure small and rustic, and the bathroom there was definitely one of the more interesting. And by interesting I mean it was so small that I could barely fit in there without touching both walls, and I weigh all of 150 lbs soaking wet...

I walked over to check out La Factoria, and it was wall to wall PACKED... There was no way I was about to go in there and stand shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of people, so I just kept going...

It looks like there's some kind of festival happening here, as they were setting up stages and whatnot. There were also porta John's lining the streets in every direction... Maybe it's porta potty fest?

I wandered down what looked like an old street and ended up in some kind of old garden or fort of some kind. All I know, is that once I got all the way to the end, it was a dead end, and I had to turn around and go back out the way I came...

After visiting Old Quebec City and Old San Juan(2x) just a few months apart on cruises this year I realized how much more beautiful OSJ is and you can see that in the great photos that Sid has taken there today.
