We will be visiting Le Verdon early in May

Docked from 07:00 till 19:00

I understand that there is not much to do at this port.

But I would like a little information on walking to Soulac-sur mer.

How far is it from the port, and how long on average would it take to walk there.

Is the village of Le Verdon in the same direction, and is it worth visiting ?

Does it have any shops or restaurants.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I visited here last September.  our cruise line, NCL, offered shuttle buses to Soulac-Sur-mer.  you cannot walk to it.  We enjoyed Soulac-sur-mer.  we were there on a sunday and the main road was closed for a vendor market.  there are shops, cafes, etc.  and the beach was also very nice.  it's a cute little french town.  Definitely worth a few hours visit in my opinion.

I visited Le Verdon in October, the port itself is an abandoned container terminal in the middle of nowhere.
We walked about 2.5 miles up the coastal path past the big marina to Pointe de Grave, the ferry terminal for Royan. It is a pleasant 20 minute crossing to Royan and the town is a post 1950s resort (empty in October and closed on Mondays). We did not have a lot of time as the ferries were on an Autumn schedule but I understand in summer they run more regularly. If you have more time there is a museum and a casino in the town together with beautiful beaches  the Notre-Dame dr Royan church is worth a stop, the sea front restaurants provide a decent lunch with the locals and french tourists. On your way back you can visit the Phare de Grave lighthouse if it is open (it was on Mondays).
