Cruise NH Posted January 29 #1 Share Posted January 29 Do you pay the suite gratuities rate with this type of room on the Volendam. I know it’s really just a balcony room but I seem to remember on the smaller ships it counted as a suite even for double mariner points but I could be wrong. So yes, you will earn double mariner points and yes, you pay the suite gratuities rate for the cabin (even though it is a verandah technically).

You get double mariner points if you BUY the suite, but if you get it by upgrade or upsell, you probably don't. We did not on the Zaandam, but we were very glad to have the space and storage for three adults! It's the only balcony room on the Volendam and Zaandam (there are no Verandahs), but it is a roomier room than the Verandahs OR Vista Suites on the larger ships.

Having stayed in a Vista Suite on the K'dam, we appreciated the extra room and the arrangement of space enough that we booked the same cabin for the swiftly upcoming 35-day So.Pacific cruise. But the VS on Zaandam was even roomier.
