PKB Posted February 9 #1 Share Posted February 9 We are new to Princess. Sailed Celebrity and Royal Caribbean for many years. Can someone simply explain the dining room scenario? Is there old time classical cruise dining with same table and waiter and table mates each evening where you just walk in to the dining room and go to your table? If there is no classical dining, must we make a reservation each evening?
rjack22 Posted February 9 #2 Share Posted February 9 There is no dining that you describe. You either have to make a reservation each night or just walk up. It "might" be possible for you to request the same waiter and table each night but you will have to ask when onboard. Unless you link your sailing number with someone else you know you will have different tablemates each night.

You do not have to share a table if you don't want to.

A passenger can contact the "Dine Line" onboard and get a set table, and server, for each night. Having experienced old and new, I'd suggest to the OP booking dining time and dining room preference, web based, (or the App, if you feel lucky.) By doing things that way, you switch tables, then if you find a server you really like, you can request that range of tables covered by that server each night. Especially post Covid, the level of experience and how personable and attentive wait staff has varied widely.
skynight Posted February 9 #6 Share Posted February 9 Someone posted the dining plan for the new Sun Princess. In that plan traditional dining looks as if has made a comeback. It's on cruise critic somewhere in the last 2 or 3 weeks.

If you find a table and staff you like and book it for each night you then can just go straight to the table and not have to wait in any line. A good server will quickly get to know your likes and dislikes and be able to steer you to 'the best for you' thing on the menu.
