This is truly tragic. I feel so bad for the families, like others said they are doing what they loved. My heartfelt condolences go out to those who have lost thier relatives and friends. It must be so hard on the rest of the group who were with them. I just cannot imagine the horror.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who are hurting so bad.

I normally post on the RCL board, but I had to come over here and extend my heartfelt and deepest sympathies to all of the family members and friends of the lives that were lost on the bus. Cruise critic members are a part of one big family and this affects all of us. I also post to another newsgroup and after they learned about the accident, they too wanted me to pass along their sincere thoughts and prayers. Also, gentle hugs and prayers to Eileen and Pat and your families as they struggle to heal the pain.

Eileen,

Shelly and I are deeply saddened at the news of your inlaws.

I didn't know about it until Chris emailed me and told me what happened.I'm sorry we never got to meet you on the cruise and our prayers are with you and your entire family. We will be going to Synagogue tonight and say a special prayer for you all.

Please give your boys a big hug from us. When I lost my mother in 1984 I was devistated, but, time does heal all wounds. I still miss her to this day and if there is anything we can do please let us know.

Our prayers and sympathies to all affected by this tragedy. We disemarked the Millennium on March 5 in Buenos Aires...you never expect a tragedy like this to happen. We were on the Chile to Ft. Lauderdale cruise at this time last year...we just never know when something like this (or the fire on Princess) will occur, but obviously, we will keep enjoying cruising, and keep praying that God will spare all travelers from "incident or accident." God Bless.

When I first found out about the crash, I was suprised and saddened. Our last cruise was on the Millenium. When my wife came home I told her what happened, we never thought for a moment that we knew anyone from this tragic accident.

The next day when I received an email from Eileen telling us the sad news, I had to read the email many times to make sure that I was reading it right. I couldn't believe it. We are still in shock.

We are very good friends of Eileen, Mark and the whole family. I've known

Mark for 20 years. This is a horrible thing that happened to very nice people.

I can't imagine what the families are going through. Our hearts go out to all the families of this tragic accident.

Eileen, tell Mark that I will call him again later and we will see you on Sunday.

We love you guys, Ezi, Amy and Rob

My daughter just came downstairs and told me that her friend from college - UConn, I used to help him with his accounting homework - his parents were both killed. The funeral is on sunday, she is headed there tomorrow and getting other classmates to go and stay with him. My heart and prayers go out to all of them. She says his parents were such nice people.

I feel so sad for the families.....like everone else. It a shame we all have to go outside the cruiselines for tours. If only the cruiselines whould lower their prices for tours and be competitive. Everytime we have gone outside the US we have arranged tours on our own at about half of what the ship tours are.

I posted general condolences earlier, but after learning of Eileen’s in-laws and Pat’s friends and neighbors, I wanted to return to post direct condolences. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Eileen & Mark: I am deeply saddened by this accident and so sorry to learn of your in-laws/parents. May the sympathy and help of your faith, family, friends, and Cruise Critic friends furnish the support your family needs at this exceedingly difficult time.

Pat & Rod: Heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your friends and neighbors and the sadness the accident is bringing you and your community. Continue to treasure your fond memories.

For any others not posting (or if I missed posts) and personally impacted by this tragedy, my sympathies too.

It is nice to see the outpouring of sympathy from Cruise Critic members.

As a form of a Condolence Card......I think your post was a bit

insensative. Sorry, that is just how I felt when I read I read it.

There is a post in the middle of the BB about tours and such.

It would probably be better to discuss that over there.

It's very hard to think that there were 3 tragedies involving "cruise" ships in 24 hours. This one that is truly awful, the Princess ship (how many times do the cruise ships have to warn people about smoking!!), and right here in my backyard a ferry sunk with 2 people losing their lives and many losing valued possessions. May there never be another day like this one.

Having been on the Millemium`s 22 January sailing out of Buenos Aires I feel quite affected by the terrible tragedy and have waiting until now to post. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of those who perished and also for those passengers on the ship whose vacation will be memorable for all the wrong reasons. Our thoughts are also with Ahuva the accupunturist who led the Friday night services so well and we only hope she was able to help those who attended the special service that was arranged on board.

I find this general condemnation that `this happened as the passengers were not on a ship`s excursion` quite distasteful. Friends of ours were on a ship`s 4x4 excusion in Puerto Montt and they were lucky to excape a similar experience. Briefly the vehicles were not up to standard and their driver used an axe to try to get it started. When it did go it travelled very slowly and kept breaking down. When they were at the snow line on Mt Osorno he was having difficulty and it was only the quick thinking of another passenger who told them all to jump out.

As far as booking tours over the internet, apart from our tour with GV Tours in Puerto Montt, our tour in Punta Arenas and our ground arrangements in Buenos Aires and Santiago were sub-contracted to a local operator. We had booked two tours with Celebrity and picked up two tours at the pier. Our reasons for not booking ship`s excursions and maybe those of a lot of others, is that private tours are much smaller and give the passengers a lot more flexibility.

Just want to let everyone know that the accident happened on a brand new 2006 mercedes bus. This horrible accident could have happened to a ship organized excursion (they have accidents too). People get into accident on Casino busses going to Atlantic city, and on some of the best organized tours to New york among other places in the US.

In my opinion there is nothing wrong with booking a side trip on wour own. Many of these trips are by the same people that run the ship excursions.

By doing it on your own, you are cutting out the middle man.

I wouldn't think twice of going on another one of these tour or taking a cab or a bus and doing our own tour. We had many good experiences from organizing our own trip, on our last one it was windy and the cab (van) driver called ahead to find out the condition of the waves on the beaches to find us the perfect beach for us. He was very friendly and a very good driver.

We also recomend that if you are in Puerto Rico to take the public trasportation accross the street from the cruise terminal, they are free and it is a great way to get around.

Ezi, do you happen to know if the Local B'Nai Brith Chapter has

a donation area? I read your website (it is wonderful by the way)and

I thought since you are such close friends with Eileen and Mark you

might know if the NJ Chapter would have something in place.

I would like to do something in the name of Mark's parents...(other

than expressing my condolences on here).

Or do you suggest I call our local chapter?

Thanks.
