Rare Ombud Posted March 29 #1 Share Posted March 29 Can you shed some light on the recent Princess shuttle? Prepay only? Other options??
nzrainbow Posted March 30 #2 Share Posted March 30 It cost $25 AUD about a week ago for the Princess shuttle bus, return trip. Book on board, they hand out a request form a couple of days prior. Journey can take up to 1 hour depending on traffic. Through industrial area so definitely not at all scenic lol. Only other option seems to be a taxi or ride share car. No suitable public transport and nothing whatsoever to see or do in the Port area. Hope this helps a bit.

Reina del Mar Posted April 23 #5 Share Posted April 23 Used the AUD25 shuttle. Seemed fine but no one checked tickets on either outward or return journey…whether everyone had paid, I have no idea. Disappointing this dock is so far from town. 25 dollars this time and 28 dollars from previous dock, so probably a little closer.

Sorry, it is so far out for you but really where would you expect the ship to dock? The bigger the ships get, the further out from river cities the ports have to be. The cruise ports for London are Dover (77 miles/125km and Southampton (79 miles/128km). The distance from Brisbane CBD shuttle drop off is 15.4 miles/24.8km to the BICT.

possum52 Posted May 8 #9 Share Posted May 8 Thanks Mel. I could have gone further with Rome, Florence and some of the Asian ports such as Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok. Yes the Grain Terminal is even further. We docked there in 2015 on Diamond Princess.

Whenever the topic of the new Brisbane Cruise Terminal is raised it is something of a bugbear. A lot of people are upset because the old terminal at Portside was so convenient and well supplied with public transport. Others will point out that with ships now getting bigger than Majestic Princess, there are almost no cruise ships left in Australia which can travel upriver and actually reach the old terminal. So the new terminal gets so much criticism that we Brisbanites get a little defensive about it, because it's at the only place it could be and still receive modern cruise ships. But people call it ugly and in the middle of nowhere, which some of us think is a bit unfair given the alternatives. And I'm not even a Brisbanite, and loved sailing from Portside but realise that where the new terminal is situated is the only alternative.
