footer6 Posted April 6 #1 Share Posted April 6 Joy arrives in Miami April 6, and sails to Bermuda from New York April 9. Is there a charter for the repositioning?
Rare shof515 Posted April 6 #2 Share Posted April 6 no, the ship sails empty with no passengers. it is a crew only sail and the crew will get a much needed days off it is very very common for ships to sail passenger-less between Florida and New York. that is the quickest way to reposition a ship
zqvol Posted April 6 #3 Share Posted April 6 Can’t transport passengers on a non US flagged ship, between two US ports without a stop in a distant foreign port, so no passengers allowed.

footer6 Posted April 6 Author #5 Share Posted April 6 Ah, the dreaded Passenger Vessel Services Act of 1886. I should have thought of that. It might have been necessary to protect US flagged ships from competition in 1886 when passenger service was only transport from port A to port B. I just saw a list of US flagged ocean-going passenger ships. There were only 20, and with the exception of Pride of America, none carry more than 170 passengers.
