IUSteve Posted April 6 #1 Share Posted April 6 I received a call today from someone who identified himself as my Princess “cruise planner.” Is this a thing? I wondered if it was a scam, but he didn’t ask for any personal info and the Caller ID said Princess. He seemed to have specific information, such as saying with confidence I’d be notified one week out about my stateroom assignment and whether my upgrade bid had been accepted. AZjohn Posted April 6 #2 Share Posted April 6 Did they pitch you about a great deal in future cruises or Princess Promotions? If so, then it’s an outside company trying to get your money (wouldn’t call it a scam but, would stay far away from thinking about it) Cheers

I got that call last week. The guy said he'd send me an email and he did and he was a real CVP. He wasn't from that ONE company that does Princess Promotions and didn't try to sell me anything.

You do not have to deal with them at all. you can use your own travel agent or book online yourself and call Princess if need be. The CVP that kept calling and emailing me had access to my bookings and was so annoying & not straight forward over an issue, that I contacted Customer Relations to block her. some on here have had a great experience with their CVP. My CVP story is that I entered a competition in the newspaper to win a Princess cruise. Thinking I'd start getting marketing emails I put my "junk" email address as contact. Sure enough an email arrived with a CVP appointed who is based in the Philippines - I'm guessing in the same building where the useless off shore Call Centre is located. Probably wouldn't know the first thing about cruising. I use a TA and will continue that way or just book myself online. As you say, some on here have had great experience with their CVP but if you go searching for one from scratch these days you'll probably end up with a Call Centre dude. avonlady6390 Posted April 6 #6 Share Posted April 6 My cvp lives in Florida and is always available if I need help with a booking I'm glad I don't need to call one of those call centers in the Philippines if I have an issue.

I assumed this guy was a sort of concierge who would do things like help make dinner and spa reservations.

Is this person employed by Princess? Or are they more like an independent travel agent?

They don’t make reservations for you those things can be done on the app. What they can do is get things straightened out with other departments, do casino offers including bounce back offers and upgrades. We use ours a lot to book and upgrade and fix things that get screwed up by casino and future cruise folks

I didn't. I called the CVP line and got a random CVP who did my refare. She seemed nice and had a faint British accent which I enjoyed. Very helpful. I stupidly didn't write down her name.
