neverbeenhere Posted April 23 #1 Share Posted April 23 Has Royal announced what they are doing in regards to this new law? I can't seem to find their answer.
not-enough-cruising Posted April 23 #2 Share Posted April 23 Have never heard of this law, but after reading it, I don't see where Royal has anything to worry about. They already have the privacy mechanism in place from the EU business, everything else seems to be no issue.
neverbeenhere Posted April 23 Author #3 Share Posted April 23 Has to do with advertising the full price of the cruise including port and gov fees on cruises out of CA. Carnival has said that they are adding the fees to all cruise advertising. 1

Coralc Posted April 24 #6 Share Posted April 24 I hope it changes a lot of company's behavior. The one that ticks me off is Lens. com. They advertise low prices on contacts and then throw in ridiculously high shipping, handling and processing fees. The cruise lines should be like Southwest, without the surprise fees at the end of the booking process.
neverbeenhere Posted April 24 Author #7 Share Posted April 24 Well, I’d be with you on Southwest, if they added first class seating. But I would also mention the vacation rental sites that post a price and fees make it double.
Biker19 Posted July 19 #8 Share Posted July 19 Cruise demand not seen impacted by new 'Honest Pricing Law' (seatrade-cruise.com) " Royal Caribbean International hasn't noticed any impact on sales since California's 'Honest Pricing Law' took effect July 1, CEO Michael Bayley said, and the US is expected to enact a similar statute. While the law applies only to businesses operating in California, most US-based cruise lines shifted to one nationally advertised price that bundles in government taxes, fees and port expenses. 'We believe that it will eventually become a national law, and since we operate all over the United States, we have decided to do it,' Bayley said aboard the new Utopia of the Seas. 'There's been no impact; the demand continues the way it was,' Bayley continued, adding: 'I personally think it's a better way of doing it. It's much simpler for people to understand. And as long as everybody is doing it, it's better for the consumer.'"
