Future cruises

Not really. I always wait until I'm home and away from the cruise high and away from some, not all, higher pressure on board sales people before I decide to book. Normally there are no special lower fares or better benefits when you book on board. I receive better benefits through my T.A.

You can't purchase FCCs. they are generally given as a form of compensation by Princess.  I think you are referring to FCDs (future cruise deposit)  Personally I have not found a benefit to actually book a cruise while on board.  But, I definitely purchase FCD's and use them when booking a later cruise.

Before Princess changed from their own employees staffing the future cruise department to the O.N.E. employees got useful information onboard for some complex bookings. Now that the Future Cruise Department has been contracted out to O.N.E. I stay as far away as possible from that department and will not book on board

There are some cruises which you can book onboard at a discount (the future cruise office has listing of their offerings they will share with you at times).  You can only book the standard fare and upgrade to one of the fare packages only once onboard.  The cruises are also have a nonrefundable deposit and you are unable to get any other promotions with it or use a future cruise deposit.  I think stockholders and military OBC are the only ones that can be added.  There are several one way and repositioning on the list as well some Canada New England for the summer months.  Nothing too far out in the future was on the most recent list I saw.

I totally agree. I have friends who used to work in future cruise departments for Princess and they have all transitioned to either concierge jobs or as CVP’s

As far as booking onboard, don't expect to be spoon fed information.  YOU have to know your stuff--research prices before you go, be aware of Princess' booking policies (like i.e. the lowest location categories will have non refundable deposits), and SAY NO to the Princess Promotions packages.  The people working here really only care about selling the Princess Promotions packages because it's their employer's product, of which Princess Cruises is only a party to.

On a recent cruise, I went to Future Cruise to have one of the cruises on the specials list priced out.  The price that was quoted to me was the same price as was showing on princess.com.  When, I confronted the consultant about it, she got very defensive and saying that the special pricing had already reached capacity.

On a different occasion, I did go ahead an book a cruise on the specials list and the consultant in the booking process was forcing me to choose a cabin.  Well, I always book guarantee.  She kept forcing me to pick a cabin and said, "I'll just mark your booking 'for upgrade'."  I rebutted her by saying that no such thing exists, and all that meant was that she would be marking my reservation as willing to accept an upgrade, and booking a guarantee, in theory, meant the same thing.  Not quite sure why I was forced to pick a cabin at the beginning, but I got my guarantee cabin.

Don’t ever let them mess with anything that involves casino rates. They have no idea what they are doing and will promise you rates and a day later say oops sorry
